Tails' Origin

A few days later, after his first battle against Dr Robotnik's machines, Sonic was training to improve his speed and skills, and Dr Kintobor was timing him. Sonic: "How was that?" Dr Kintobor: "Well... you're getting better, that's a good sign." that was when the sound of the lab's alarm went off, alerting both Dr Kintobor and Sonic, who went into the lab to see if what triggered the alarms. It wasn't long before they find a little fox eating some wires, but what really caught their attention was that the little fox had two tails instead of one. Sonic: "Whoa... I didn't know that foxes have two tails... cool." Dr Kintobor: "They don't... it must be a birth defect... and by the looks of it... this is a very young fox... poor little guy must be starving..." that was when the little fox started to cough and started to look really sick. Sonic: "Hey... what's wrong?" asked Sonic, before the doc picked up the little fox and went to put him into an X-Ray to check on him. Dr Kintobor: "Oh no... this little guy's been poisoned!" Sonic: "What?!" Dr Kintobor: "According to the X-ray, he ate some of the poisonous berries I was researching here by mistake... I fear that he won't last long..." Sonic: "No... doc, can't you do something?" Dr Kintobor: "I wish I could, but I'm a doctor of science, not for medicine... well maybe I do have some medicine skills, but I have not yet figured out how to neutralize the poison of the berries... the only way he could heal from the poison is as if he were a Mobian like you..." Sonic: "A Mobian like me... wait!, that's it!" Dr Kintobor: "What's it?" Sonic: "That machine you used to create me, could it work on Tails?" Dr Kintobor: "Hmm... maybe, it's worth a try... wait, Tails?" Sonic: "Well we gotta call the little fox something, and it seems fitting." Dr Kintobor: "Hmm... I like it, anyway, let's get to work." said Dr Kintobor, before he puts Tails into the fusion chamber, placed the Chaos emeralds into the laser, and then pulls the switch to activate the laser that fires a beam into the fusion chamber, and the Chaos energy was being absorbed into the little fox's body. Slowly but surly, Tails started to grow, becoming more anthropomorphic and turning yellow as well. Once the beam stopped, Tails (voiced by Amy Palant) came out of the fusion chamber. Tails: "Whoa... what happened... wait... I can talk!... what happened?" Sonic: "The doc here turned you into a Mobian like me in order to save you." Tails: "Really?... oh yeah... I was really sick... after eating those berries..." Dr Kintobor: "Yes, those berries were poisonous, you were lucky that we were able to save you in time..." Tails: "Yeah... but why?, I'm a freak of nature... I mean I got two tails... my own parents got rid of me because of my extra tail..." Sonic: "What?, but that's not fair, having an extra tail isn't a bad thing." Dr Kintobor: "He's right about that, and I agree, in fact I find it very interesting." Tails: "Really?" Dr Kintobor: "Yes, and Sonic gave you a name after them, which is Tails." Sonic: "Yeah, I hope you like it." Tails: "Hmm... a name... well I guess it sounds way better than freak..." Sonic: "Of course it does, now let's see what you can do." Tails: "What do you mean?" Dr Kintobor: "Well now that you're a Mobian fox, we need to see if you got special abilities like Sonic does." Tails: "Really?" Sonic: "Yeah, mine is super speed, let's see if you can do." Dr Kintobor: "But first..." said the doc, before he gives Tails a pair of red and white shoes to protect the little guy's feet, and a pair of white gloves to protect his hands. Tails: "Wow... you're giving me these gloves and shoes... nobody has ever given me anything before... thanks." Dr Kintobor: "You're very welcome Tails, now let's see what you can do." said Dr Kintobor, before Tails tries to run as fast as Sonic, but wasn't able to catch up. Then was when Tails made his namesakes to twirl around like a helicopter and started to fly up, much to the little fox's surprise. Tails: "Whoa!, what's going on?!" Sonic: "Tails, you're flying!, that's so cool!" Tails: "Really?, I guess so... but how do I get down?" Sonic: "Try stopping your tails to twirl." said Sonic, before Tails did that, only to fall and Sonic had to catch him. Dr Kintobor: "Perhaps you should not stop twirling your namesakes until you're closer to the ground." Tails: "Got it..." Sonic: "Come on Tails, let me show you around the island." Tails: "Um... should I?" Dr Kintobor: "I don't see why not, go right ahead, just be careful out there." Sonic: "Don't worry doc, I won't let anything happen to him." said Sonic, before he and Tails went off to explore the island, and the little fox was amazed by the sights. Tails: "Wow... I never knew the island was so big..." Sonic: "Well the doc once told me that this island is small compared to the world below it... makes me wonder what it would be like to explore it..." suddenly, a group of what looked like large bees made of metal, which were really robots, came to the scene, and Dr Robotnik in his hovercraft came to the scene as well. Dr Robotnik: "Greetings headgehog, did you miss me?" Sonic: "Oh great... it's Eggman." Tails: "Who?" Sonic: "Dr Kintobor's evil twin brother." Dr Robotnik: "You know my brother?... wait... of course, I should have figured he had something to do with you." Sonic: "Yeah, and if you think I'm gonna let you have the Chaos emeralds just because your Kintobor's brother, think again." Dr Robotnik: "Well you won't have a choice, as I brought more robots with me, and they're a lot stronger than the ones you faced last time." Tails: "Oh man... why did they have to look like scary bees...?" Dr Robotnik: "Oh you're scared of bees eh?, well too bad for you, cause their stingers can really give you a bad day... or should I say, your last day!" Sonic: "Oh please Eggman, if your machines couldn't beat me last time, what makes you think they'll work now?" Dr Robotnik: "Because they got more powerful armor... and a lot more of them this time too... and stop calling me Eggman!, robots, attack!" ordered Dr Robotnik, before more robots appeared, and both Sonic and Tails had to fight them. Sonic was able to handle most of the robots, but Tails was having a harder time as he didn't had the experience like Sonic does, so it wasn't long before the fox got captured by one of the robots. Luckily for Tails though, Sonic was able to rescue him in time, and then the fox flew up to Robotnik's hovercraft, before seeing the controls on it. Tails: "Hmm... I wonder what these do..." Dr Robotnik: "Hey!, don't touch the controls, otherwise my machines will malfunction!" Tails: "Really?, thanks for the tip." said Tails, before he starts pressing some of the buttons randomly, and the robots started to go crazy before shutting themselves down. Sonic: "Nice work little buddy." Tails: "Thanks." Dr Robotnik: "You cursed little fox!" shouted Robotnik, trying to get his hands on Tails, only for the little fox to fly away just in time. Tails: "Missed me Eggman." Dr Robotnik: "Don't call me Eggman!, it's Dr Robotnik and you know it!" Tails: "We know, but Eggman seems more fitting for a rotten egg like you." Dr Robotnik: "Oh... mark my words, I'll be back, and when I do... I'll make you and Sonic pay!, just you wait and see!" yelled Robotnik, before he flys away from the scene, leaving Sonic and Tails behind, who went back to Dr Kintobor to give him a report. Dr Robotnik: "So my twin brother was here again?" Sonic: "Yeah, but we took care of him, and Tails was a big help." Tails: "Oh... I was just pressing some random buttons, that's all... I wished I knew more about machines... maybe I can be a bigger help." Dr Kintobor: "You know Tails... I can teach you everything I know about machinery if you want." Tails: "Really?, that can be a big help, I promise to learn and work hard, and maybe I could be a great scientist just like you." Dr Kintobor: "I'm happy to hear it, now come inside the lab, we have a lot of work to do." said Dr Kintobor, as he, Sonic and Tails went into his lab, where the scientist begins teaching Tails about machinery.
