Milo just stared at me, his eyes were wide, his lips were trembling, and his hand were shaking. I couldn't tell if he was surprised or about to start yelling at me.

     "Well, will you?" I asked.
Another minute of silence went by before Milo finally spoke.
     "Absolutely not."
     I clenched my fists, "why!"
"Did you not see what just happened out there?! Sir Calin passed away, even though he was the strongest!  Do you seriously want to live the same fate as him!? You have so much ahead of you!"

My chest ached, of course I knew that, but I didn't care.
"I disagree with you, entirely." I deadpanned, "all I have ahead of me is something I want nothing a part of. Please, let me take charge of my life for once." I pleaded.

"Do you seriously think risking your life is the right way to take charge of your life?" He asked.
"I want to follow in Calins footsteps, I want to be strong like him, I want to make a difference like him."

Milo sighed and grabbed my hand, "You're absolutely positive you want to do this? You'll know what your family will say, what your father will say."
I looked to the side and nodded, "I'm prepared to face the consequences of my actions, no matter what they may be."

"I just don't know if I can allow myself to let you join the military, I took an oath to protect and look after you for the rest of my life."
I gripped Milo's hand tightly, "I'm going to do this with or without your help Milo, so please, make this easier for me."

I met his eyes once again; they were glossy with tears. I never knew Milo actually cared about me that much, I assumed it was just because he was taking orders. But that's not the point, I needed to convince him to help me.
     "Please, Milo."
He sighed once again, "Alright, I'll help you. Just promise me you'll be extra careful, promise me."

My chest swelled with relief; I seriously could not believe he agreed to help me. I will be forever grateful for him.

It's been about a week since my brother died, a week since my perfect family had fallen and broken into pieces, a week since I decided to join the military. Milo had sent a letter to the corps stating my enrollment, and the entire week he had been helping me pack.

It's been hard hiding my decisions from my parents, of course I wanted to tell them, and maybe in another universe they would support my decision. But I knew they wouldn't, they would shun and disown me just like they did my brother. And I was willing to accept that fate.

My departure date was nearly here, and it was safe to say I was scared. I would be moving from the interior of Wall Sina to Wall Rose, which I had never been to before. It would be new land, new people, and a lot of struggles for me.
I couldn't help but stress over the fact that I would be in hard training for three years straight, but I just wanted to do something for me, for once.

"Lady F/n." Milo said from behind me, "It's time, the carriage is here."
I felt my heartbeat fasten, my palms became sweaty and my breathing rapidly increased. It was time, I was seriously going to join the military. There was absolutely no going back now.
As I walked down the hallway, I could hear my dad yelling at something, which I assumed was the carriage out front.

"Quit your yelling." I said sternly as I walked up beside my father.
"What the fuck did you just say to me..." he mumbled, his voice was deep, and I felt like I was about to get slapped across the face.
"Well, that's my ride." I said with an empty smile.

"What do you mean your ride!? What's the meaning of this!" My father yelled in my ear.
I walked pasted him and towards the carriage, I could tell that there were a few people in the back already.

"Where do you think you're going!"
My father grabbed my arm and squeezed it so tight I thought my arm would snap in half.
"Let go, I'm leaving."
"Like hell you are!"
My dad tried to pull me back, but Milo stopped him. He removed my father's grip from my arm, and I ran down the steps.

"If you leave this house, you will never be welcomed back! And when you end up dead like your brother remember that this was your fault!"
I wanted to yell at him, I wanted to scream at him until I couldn't scream anymore. But I bit my tongue to keep myself from completely lashing out at him.

I jumped up into the back of the carriage, there were five other people sitting there just staring at me. I assumed these guys were on their way to the cadet corps as well.

I set my bag by my feet as I sat down. And after a few minutes the carriage began to move, and the sound of my father screaming and shouting slowly muffled to the point where I couldn't hear it anymore. I was finally free.
"I can't believe someone like you is joining the cadet corps!"

The sudden beginning of a conversation startled me, I fully expected it to be a smooth and quiet ride.
"Who, me?" I asked as I pointed to myself in confusion.

The girl nodded, "Yeah! You're one of the L/n's, right?" She asked.
I nodded slowly, still not knowing where this conversation would be going.
"Why are you joining? Don't you have piles and piles of money just laying around? What's the point in joining the military?" She asked.
My throat felt tight, "well uh..I'm following in my brother's footsteps..I'm gonna join the Survey Corps."

Everyone in the carriage just stared at me like I had just ripped my own heart out of my chest and began to eat it or something. The looked at me like I was a crazy person.
"What..?" I asked.
"Why would you want to join the Survey Corps? Thats the most dangerous branch!" She said in awe.
I shrugged, "my brother joined, so I thought I would too."

It took about two or three days to reach the cadet corps headquarters, there were tons of new faces for me to get used to. Being in the country was weird to me, I had never even seen a forest before. It was beautiful.

It took nearly an hour for everyone to get assigned to a barrack and given their training uniform, it was just like the main military uniform, except instead of one of the three branch symbols there was a shield with swords on it.

Once everyone was situated, we were called to the main training grounds for what I thought would be roll call. They lined us up in six rows, and the head instructor introduced himself to us. His voice was loud, super loud, it actually hurt my ears a bit.

"Welcome new recruits! Although right now, you all are nothing but titan fodder just waiting to be devoured the moment you step onto the battlefield!" He yelled.

"I am your head instructor, my name is Leon Otto, but that's Sir to you runts! Welcome to your first day as the military's 102nd trainee cadet corps! Here we will break you down and build you back up into fine soldiers!"

Instructor Otto jumped down from his platform and began to walk down the rows of people, randomly yelling at people to tell him their names and where they're from. They also had to do the military's salute, putting your fist over your heart, dedicating your heart to protecting humanity.

It wasn't long before he got to my row, he yelled at nearly everyone, and then he got to me. He stood over me with an angry look on his face, he seemed to be studying me.
"You! What's your name!" He yelled right in my face.

I put my right fist over my heart, swinging my left arm behind my back, "My name is F/n, L/n! I'm from the interior of Wall Sina!"
