                        The next morning

     I woke up that morning with a pounding headache. The sunlight shining through my window was painful to look at. My entire body felt sore, and I couldn't remember a thing about last night. I sat up, putting my hand on my head as I squinted my eyes shut.

     "What the hell..." I groaned as I swung my legs over the edge of my bed. I noticed a plate on my bedside table. There were a few bread buns, a big glass of water, and a note. I picked it up and unfolded it.

     It'll help, eat every last scrap and drink every last drop. You idiot, this is what you get for getting drunk.

     I smiled upon reading it. I grabbed a bread bun and tore into it. I was so hungry I could barely think, eating that piece of bread felt like it was my first time ever eating food. I ate all three rolls within minutes.

     Once I finished off the glass of water, I managed to stand up out of bed. I walked towards my window and peered out. It seemed the rest of the Survey Corps was back, and there were a lot less than yesterday. I wonder what happened while I was here, while me and Levi were here.
     There was a knock at my door.

     "Captain!"
     I recognized Zunther's voice.
     I cleared my throat, "come in!" I said with a raspy voice.
     The door opened and Zunther entered, he took one look at me and immediately his expression changed from professional one to a worried.
     "You look a mess, Captain, are you alright?" He asked and he dropped his salut.

     I nodded, "yes. What's the news?" I asked as I ran my fingers through my tangled hair.
     Zunther straightened his posture, "The commander requests your presence!"
    I nodded, "I'll be out there. In his office I presume?" I asked as I began to straighten up my uniform.

     Zunther shook his head, "no, he's in the infirmary. Erwin suffered a horrible injury." He said as he walked out.

     I was left there stunned, was Erwin going to die too? I asked myself. I quickly got myself ready and rushed towards the infirmary. Who knows what happened.

     "Erwin!" I said with urgency as I opened the doors to the room Zunther pointed me to. Erwin was there in bed, Hange was accompanied by the shaved head kid from the other day, and Levi was there too. Once I laid eyes on Levi, my heart rate immediately began to skyrocket. But of course, I needed to keep a level head.

      "Thank you for coming, F/n." Erwin said, breaking me out of my own thoughts.
     I turned my head to look at Erwin, I finally noticed the state he was in. He was missing a whole arm at that.

     "Erwin..? What happened...?" I asked as I stared at his missing right arm.
     "A titan. But that's not why I called you here." He said, "there is some important information you must know."

Hange turned to me, "F/n, I know you're still grieving over Felix and Fia, trust me I am too. We've been best friends for years. But we need to move on. We've made a breakthrough in titan research." They said.

I looked down at my feet, "you're right. I'm sorry." I said with remorse. I glanced over to Levi, once we made eye contact, he looked away quickly. For some reason my heart felt like it was cracking like a fragile piece of glass, strangely it felt painful.
