"Good morning, Captain." The commander greeted as I walked into the board room. We were having a meeting to discuss the future of Levi in the survey corps. To put it simply, to determine whether or not we would hand him into the MP's.
"Commander Shadis." I deadpanned as I saluted to him.

He motioned for me to sit as he cleared his throat, "you know why we're here, captain. We've all come to an agreement to send him off to the MP's, make him pay for his crimes against humanity. But it would seem that you and Erwin think otherwise." He said as he leaned back into his chair.

I glanced over at Erwin, as if to ask for permission to speak my mind. He nodded in response.
"Well," I said as I turned to look at the commander, "It's no secret that he has indeed committed many crimes, crimes that I don't have the time to list off. There're also his acts of insubordination. But putting all that aside, he's a strong and powerful soldier. I believe that if we send him off, it would deal a blow to the survival of the survey corps. You saw how he took down that abnormal with ease."

The commander stayed silent for a moment, he seemed to be analyzing what I had just said. He then turned to Erwin.
"Do you agree with Captain L/n in full?" He asked.
Erwin nodded, "he is a valuable asset to the survival of humanity."
I smiled a bit; I was relieved that he was being given a second chance.

"I'll entrust him to your squad, F/n." The commander said as stood up, he then began to file out of the room along with the other soldiers. Erwin and I were the only ones to remain.
"Is there an issue, F/n?" He asked, his usual monotone voice was now filled with sympathy.
I made eye contact with him, "I'm just worried that I won't be able to protect him. I already failed with Farlan and Isabel..." I mumbled, I felt tears welling up in my eyes.

Erwin put his hand on mine, "don't blame yourself for their deaths. You're an amazing soldier and captain. We can't save everyone, you know?"
I nodded in response, "I just wish I could, I wish I could be a strong as Calin. He wouldn't have let them die." I said in a defeated tone.
Erwin sighed, "when are you going to quit comparing yourself to him," he said as he stood up, "be proud of how far you've come, I know Calin would be proud of the soldier you've become."

Usually, the next few weeks after expeditions are recovery days for the wounded, labor, and training. It seems that no matter how much training we do, people are always devoured. The titans are just that powerful.

My squad and I always spend our days training. Our favorite thing to do is sparring, although no one likes to get paired up with me.
"Would you look at that!" Fia said in a mocking tone as she pinned me down to the ground, "you never let me win! Did you hit your head or something?!"

She let me up and sat back, her arms propping her up.
I sighed and wiped the sweat off my forehead, "yeah, or something..." I mumbled as I got up.
"Is everything okay, F/n?" Zunther asked as he came to my side

I nodded and waved him off, "I'm heading inside, I have some paperwork to do." I said as I walked away from them.
That was a total lie, captains don't even have any important paperwork to do. That's all for the commander and the section commanders. There was just too much on my mind to be able to spar.
Levi still hadn't come out of his room, so I decided to pay him a visit. Although I wasn't sure if he even wanted my company. I made sure to grab him a cup of tea as well, as a gift of peace.

As I walked up to his door, I realized the food I had set out for him was still there, untouched and cold. I sighed looking down at it, what a waste.
"Levi." I said as I knocked on his door, "I brought you some tea. I noticed that you didn't eat your food last night. Is there anything I can do for you?" I asked.
