A party invite

Sonic's POV

We made it to the shops and I followed after Rouge, not wanting to be awkward around Shadow.

We spotted Amy, Blaze, and Honey over at an outdoor garden shop. I ran over waving at them.

"Hey guys!" I shouted gaining their attention.

Amy looked up and her eyes widened with an excited smile.
She ran up to me her arms open wide for a hug.

"OH MY CHAOSSSS!!! SONIIC!! YOUR QUILLS! YOU LOOK AMAZING!!" She exclaimed, running and hugging me tightly, and I returned the hug happily.

"Thanks!" I giggled, hugging her, a warm feeling in my chest.

I loved how everyone reacted to my new hairstyle, it made me feel proud, and happy. Accepted.

Blaze and Honey walked up.

"Hey! What's up Sonic?" Honey said with a wave. "Blaze and Amy told me about your transition, so I wouldn't use your deadname when you arrived. It's been a minute since we've seen each other!" She said with a smile.

"Yeah! Oh my chaos, how long has it been? How's Gadget and Infinite?" I asked, hugging her.

"They're doing good! Infinite has pretty much healed from the loss of the phantom ruby." Said Honey, pulling out her phone. "I was actually hanging with them just the other day!"

She showed me a picture of a selfie with Gadget and Infinite in the background.
Gadget, the grey striped and red wolf, was in front of a cake shop display, holding Infinite's hand making a peace sign with the other.
Infinite was holding up a peace sign as well but his face was more stoic and made him look like he was bored. He had bandages wrapped around his torso, and his long white hair was pulled back into a ponytail.

"Aw they look great! I can't wait to see them again sometime!" I chirped, with a cheerful smile.

"Yeah yeah, anyways, how crazy did it have to be for Shadow to promise to help you come out?!?" Honey asked, grabbing my hands in hers, a curious look in her eye.

"Well..."

"SURGE! MARIA!! HEY!!" Shouted Amy.

I looked back to see her running towards the blonde hedgehog and the green tenrec.
She hugged both of them and started talking about something.

"Holy crap, Surge and Maria? That's a sight I'd never thought I'd see!" Gasped Honey.

"Same..." I mumbled, staring at their hands which were still locked together.

"You look good Sonic, how are your pills working?" Asked Blaze, gaining my attention.

"Oh! Great! They're slowly working but so far there's been no repercussions!" I said.

"We gotta go now guys! See you later!" Said Maria, leading Surge away from our group.

"Bye Maria!" I said, as everyone said goodbye to the duo, except Shadow, who was just glaring at Surge.

I chuckled and elbowed him slightly. "Lighten up Shads! Your sis is a lot tougher than she seems."

"Yeah but what if she-"

"Shadow I've seen your sister use a sniper rifle and headshot someone."

"I was knocked out and she acted on instinct, the shot was just lucky." He sighed.

"Alright if that's what you wanna tell yourself. But she's fine! Besides, if Surge hasn't hurt her at this point then she won't be any harm to her later! That Tenrec isn't the one to wait to attack an enemy." I said.

"Ugh, fine, I just don't like how touchy-feely she was with Maria." He grumbled.

"That I can't explain....Maybe she just really likes Maria and wants some physical contact?" I suggested.

"Whatever, but if Maria comes home in any pain or her heart rate is raised from lying, they won't find that pest's body." Shadow said, turning around to follow Rouge.

"Alright, alright, Mr. Overprotective." I said, following after him.

We went inside a clothing store. I grouped up with Honey, Rouge, Amy, and Blaze, and they all started talking.

"Oh yeah, ladies! And guy, Fiona's got a party happening on Friday! She told me to invite all ya'll! And I definitely know Sally, the Babylon Rouges, and Scourge will be there! It's an easy chance to come out to a few more people! How bout' it Sonic?" Said Honey.

"Sounds cool! Will Gadge and Finn be there?" I asked.

"Nah, Infinite hates parties, he says they're too loud and obnoxious and he'd *ahem* 'Spend a quiet night alone with a book and Gadget then party with scum'." Honey said, using air quotes.

"Sounds like he's still got that attitude." Sighed Amy.

"Yup, but hey! There's always a chance that Gadget drags him out of the house and gets him there!" Said Honey, patting my shoulder.

"Cool! I'll come!" I said, excitedly.

I hadn't been to a huge party in a while and I know Fiona hosts some pretty wild ones. It couldn't hurt to go!

"Great, I'll text you guys the info later, but for now..." She pulled out a sunny yellow dress and held it up to her body.
"Do you think this dress would look flattering on me?"

We all laughed and started talking again.

As we walked out of the shop, Shadow waited by the door and walked beside me as we left.

"Yo, Shads!" I said, gaining his attention.

"Hm? What?" He asked, looking down at me.

"Fiona invited me and some of the others to a party and there's people who I need to come out to who will be there! Do you wanna come along?" I asked, holding onto his arm again.

He thought about it for a minute then sighed.
"I suppose so, either that or Rouge will make me go. Also I made a promise and I plan to keep it, so if you're going, I'm going as well."

"Yayyy!" I cheered, hugging his side.

I could hear him scoff but I could have sworn I saw a little smile on his face.
