Acceptance

Sonic's POV

We gathered by a tree in the park.

Just like I asked, Rouge had invited everyone.
Well, maybe not everyone, everyone but hey! It was still great.

She even invited Eggman and he decided to join. Along with Sage, Metal, and Belle.

We stood in a clump of a half circle while Knuckles took a spade and dug a good sized hole for the miniature coffin that Tails had 3-D printed.

Sonia was standing next to Manic and recording the whole thing to send to our moms.
Shadow then passed me the photos once the hole was dug and I walked up to Tails who held the coffin open.

I placed the photos in it then took the coffin from him, closing it.

Then I cleared my throat to talk.

"We gather here to celebrate the death of Soraya, who was too afraid of telling her friends about her true self. She was too scared and too enclosed in her own self-doubt that she didn't stop to think how much people would actually care about her."

I looked upon the party and smiled.

"But that's all done now. Soraya's gone and Sonic takes her place. I feel like a better person now since you all helped me come out of the closet."

Rouge and Amy both were wiping tears from their eyes, and Espio was continually handing Silver tissues because he was sobbing.

"I want to thank you all so much. You all have been so amazing throughout my entire transition and have helped me through, and for once in my life, I feel whole, content, with myself and my life." I said softly.
"I want to thank my friends for being there and accepting me."
"I want to personally thank Rouge, Amy, Blaze, and Maria, for helping me with buying clothes and giving me advice."
"I want to thank my family for loving and accepting me no matter what." I said, looking towards Sonia and Manic and Uncle Chuck.
"I want to thank my little brother, for always supporting me, no matter how rough it got." I looked at Tails with a smile.

"And I finally want to thank, Shadow, the love of my life, and the person who was with me through it all." I said, locking eyes with him. "Shadow, you've done so much for me. I could never ever find a way to repay you in a million years, but thank you so much for being there for me."

Shadow smiled and nodded and I sighed then looked upon the party.
"Knuckles, if I may, can I have the spade to bury this?"

He nodded and handed me the spade, and I set the mini coffin in the hole.
I then used the dirt that was dug up and filled up the hole, burying the coffin.

It was like leaving an old friend behind, but I had to let it go.
I needed to move on and learn to accept myself.

Once it was buried, I gave the spade back to Knux and sighed.

"Welp, goodbye Soraya. I probably won't miss you."

Then I turned to the group and smiled wide.

"Well, how about we take this funeral party to the ice cream parlor? I hear they have some new flavors!"

Some of the group laughed and others nodded and smiled.

Then we were all at the ice cream place nearby, chatting and talking like friends.

"So Sonic, are you planning on moving in with Shadow? You seem to be pretty attached to him." Chuckled Rouge.

"I might! But I think I should probably go back to living with Tails, I mean, he's still just a kid!" I laughed, ruffling my little brother's fur.

"Soniccc!" Whined Tails.

"Pfft that reminds me, Blondie still has to help me and Kit move in with her." Said Surge who was sitting across from us with Maria and Kitsunami.

"What." Said Shadow, who was sitting right next to me.

"I may have offered to let them move in with me! No biggie! Their apartment they were currently living in wasn't the best and I'm still helping them recover from the code and stuff." Said Maria.

"Yup! I'm moving in with Mar! It's sure as hell gonna be fun!" Laughed Surge.

"Lucky." Groaned Scourge who was sitting behind them.

"Maria said she'd let me have my own Netflix account so I can stop watching on Surge's!" Said Kitsunami.

"That sounds nice!" Said Amy.

"I'll be right back, I gotta go to the bathroom!" Said Knuckles, getting up from his seat next to Rouge.

Rouge watched him walk to bathroom and once the door was closed she instantly turned to us.

"Okay! Guys! I also wanted to talk to you about something!" She said quickly.
"Tomorrow is Mine and Knuxie's anniversary and we're gonna be at Gold-Ring Point! I want all you guys to be there because I have a little something planned!"

"What is it?" Asked Silver, who was behind her, leaning over his seat.

"Hehe, why don't I show you guys?" She giggled.

She opened her purse then grabbed a small velvet box out of it.

"Nooo, oh my chaos, Rouge! You didn't!" Gasped Treble.

"I did." Rouge chuckled.

"I helped pick it out!" Chuckled Midnight.

She opened the box and showed it to all of us.
Inside was a gold ring with a purple stripe through the middle.

"Holy chaos! Rouge! It's beautiful!" Squealed Amy.

"Called it." Said Blaze.

"Yeah, I picked this out and I want all you guys to be there tomorrow when I propose. And you're not allowed to tell him!"

"Our lips our sealed!" I chuckled.

"Thanks guys, oop, he's coming back." She said, closing the case and shoving it back into her purse.

"Hey! I'm back! What'd you guys talk about?" Asked Knuckles as he slid back into his seat.

"Nothing much just wondering what Tails's next project is gonna be!" I chuckle.

"Oh yeah! I'm gonna create a whole system for a thing that detects dirty dishes in the sink and rinses and puts them in the dishwasher for us! That way, Sonic and I don't have to argue whose turn it is to do dishes." Tails said, looking at me.

"Alright cool! Buuut, it is your week to do dishes, bud."

"You haven't even been at the house for weeks! I bet Shadow's doing all the dishes because he spoils you!"

"It is true I do spoil him too much." Shadow chuckled.

"Pfft, you love me though." I snickered, snuggling into his shoulder.

"Yeah, yeah, don't push it faker."

I giggled and looked out the window.

I think I finally feel happy. I like where I am now.

And I feel.
Accepted.
