Shadow's POV
It was Rouge's and Knuckles's anniversary date and like she asked we were all present for it.
He was a bit confused when most of us showed up.
"Hey Rouge? Why did you invite the gang again?" He asked her as we walked up to the top of the point.
"Just cause it's a special occasion, honey! I really want all our friends to be here to see it!" She said with a smile, holding onto his arm.
"Aw, alright." He chuckled.
Now we were at the top, and Sonic and I stood off to the side. Rouge had her hand in her purse, and we all knew she was getting ready to propose to him.
"I'm so excited!" Whispered Amy to Sonic.
"Same here!" He whispered back.
It was calmer for a moment and we spoke amongst ourselves, Rouge and Knuckles exchanging some words.
"Hey Knuxie, baby, I got something to tell ya." Rouge said.
"Hm? Yeah Rouge?" He asked.
Oh chaos, I knew Silver was gonna start the waterworks as soon a Rouge started her little speech.
He was always super emotional about this kind of stuff.
"So, you and I have been together for quite sometimeee, five years to be exact..." She said softly. "And I wanted to say a few things..."
"Knuckles, you are the best thing that's ever happened to me and I don't think I could be content with anyone else. Hon, you're truly a diamond in the rough, a ruby in the midst of a pile of rocks. And well, I have something important to ask you..." She then pulled out the case and dropped to one knee.
"Wha- Rouge?!?" Squeaked Knuckles, his muzzle turning a darker red than his quills.
"Knuckles Funa Echidna, you are the greatest man ever, I love you more than any jewel or gem, and I would like to spend the rest of my days by your side. Will you marry me?"
She popped open the case.
He stared at it for a while, clearly trying to order his thoughts while his muzzle only got redder.
"Say yes, say yes, say yes!" Sonic and Amy repeatedly whispered.
"Sonic, Amy! Shut up!" Knuckles groaned, covering his embarrassed face.
They snickered and Rouge chuckled lightly.
"So, what do you say Knuxie?" She asked with a smirk.
He sighed then uncovered his face with a smile.
"How could I possibly say no? Yes, I say yes." He said.
"YEAAA!" Cheered Amy and Sonic.
A couple of us laughed, and Rouge stood up, putting the ring on Knuckles's hand.
Then they hugged and kissed.
We all clapped and cheered for the now soon-to-be-married couple.
Third person POV
The rest of the event by well. They chatted and talked, excited for the echidna's and bat's wedding.
Shadow stood off to the side while everyone talked, and watched the lowering sun in the sky.
Sonic walked over and stood next to his lover.
"What are you thinking about Shads?" Asked Sonic, resting his head on his shoulder.
"A lot. I mean, so much has happened over these past few months."
"What was your favorite parts of it?"
"When I got to ask you out....being able to dance with you at your Moms' wedding....and being able to talk about our future at the hospital....and I guess....I'm thinking..." He said, wrapping his arm behind Sonic and holding his waist.
"I'm thinking about how I ended up with someone as amazing as you."
"Shadow..." Said Sonic softly.
"I love you so much Sonic."
"I love you the most, Shadow."
They kissed in the glowing light of the sunset.
Finally both happy, and truly accepted.
What a beautiful ending...but their lives together have just started.
