(I wrote this while sick and watching Moon girl & Devil Dinosaur so forgive me if it's rough)

Tails's POV

I glanced at Shadow as he tapped his foot quickly against the tiled floor, and fidgeted with inhibitor rings.

The waiting room was quiet as we all waited for a nurse or the surgeon to come out and tell us how Sonic was.

I would admit I was a bit shocked when I found out Shadow's gift to Sonic was paying for his top surgery.

I looked over at the door as Sonic and Shadow walked in, holding hands even tighter than ever.
Sonic held a small stack of papers to his chest and was nuzzling his head into Shadow's shoulder.

"I presume it went well, lovebirds?" I chuckled.

"Better than well! Look at what Shadow paid for!" He said, shoving the papers into my arms.

I scanned the sheets, reading through the lines of information.
"Holy crap, Shadow paid for your top surgery?" I gasped, staring at the last page where Shadow and Sonic had signed their names.

"Yes! He's the best boyfriend ever!" Squealed Sonic, hugging Shadow tightly.

Shadow chuckled lightly and kissed Sonic on the forehead.
"Only the best for you, love."

"Man you two act like you've dating for years." I laughed.

Sonic giggled as Shadow buried his face in his quills.
"So when did you schedule the surgery?" I asked.

"Actually, next week." Shadow said.

"Oh, wow. Uhm okay, so you ready for this Sonic?" I asked, slightly worried about him.

"Oh definitely!" Sonic said with a irresistible smile.

Now here we all were in a waiting room.

Amy sat next to Blaze and Silver, looking just as concerned as Shadow was.
Knuckles was asleep on Rouge's shoulder, and Maria was sitting next to Shadow with Cream and Vanilla.
Sonia, Manic, Mom, and Bernadette were all sitting next to me.
We were waiting...just waiting for an update on my big brother.

Then a tall rabbit nurse walked out of the doors, holding a clipboard and looking like she hadn't gotten sleep in ages.

"Nurse Julie? How is he?" Asked Shadow, standing up.

She sighed and pulled down her face mask, revealing the soft smile underneath.

"His surgery is done, and he's awake now. Do you guys want to come see him?"

Everyone jumped up from their seats, all excited to see Sonic.
Julie led us through a set of doors and down a hall and to a closed door.
"Okay so, he may seem a bit woozy since we had to put him to sleep to do his surgery, but he's still able to talk. Also please don't be too loud." Julie said, as she opened the door.

We all came inside and my eyes instantly moved to Sonic who was lying on a hospital bed.
He had bandages wrapped around his torso and was propped up against the headboard of the bed.

"Hey guys..." He yawned.

"Sonic! How are you feeling, dear?" Asked Aleena, rushing to his side.

"Great, a little loopy but I-" He paused to yawn again. "I feel awesome."

"Does anything hurt?" Shadow asked softly.

"Nope, not really..." Sonic said with a smile.

"So do you think it's worth it big bro?" I asked with a chuckle.
