It's your third date with Changbin. Things have been going pretty well between the two of you, but it still makes you nervous to spend time with him.
The smell of sweat and rubber greets you as you step through the doors of the laser tag arena. Your heart skips a beat as you spot him across the room, his broad shoulders bare in a black tank top that hugs his muscles just so. He waves at you with a huge grin, holding up the equipment he already got at the counter.
As you enter the arena, the thrum of laser guns fills the air, and the bright lights blind you for a moment. You and Changbin are partnered up with two other couples.
"Let's take out the other team!" he whispers in your ear, making your stomach flip.
You nod, already feeling the adrenaline pumping through your veins. As you sneak up behind the opposing team, he places a hand on your lower back, guiding you. His touch sends shivers through your entire body, making it hard to concentrate on the game. But somehow, that only makes you more determined to win.
You and him work together seamlessly, taking out the other team one by one. Your hearts pound in unison as you sprint across the arena, narrowly avoiding laser beams. Changbin is always right behind you, making sure nobody gets close. Before you could head out of your hiding spot he suddenly pushes you into the corner, his body pressed tightly against yours. His eyes looking intensely right into yours.
You feel his warm breath on your neck as he leans in to whisper, "I've always wanted to do that."
Before you could grasp the situation, he kissed you, his lips soft and insistent against yours, sending a wave of heat through your entire body.
But just as you start to lose yourself in the kiss, he pulls away, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. He shoots you right in the chest. You gasp, your eyes wide with betrayal. He just shrugs and walks away, leaving you standing there in disbelief.
The other team must have noticed, because they're now closing in on you. You try to focus on the game, but all you can think about is the feeling of his lips on yours and the sting of his betrayal. You manage to dodge their shots and return fire, but they're relentless.
As the game continues, your anger at Changbin only fuels your determination to win. You and him are still partners, but the flirtatious banter has turned into tension. You can't help but wonder if he's doing this on purpose, trying to throw off your game. Each time you pass by him, you feel the urge to push him down or trip him up, but you know you can't lose focus.
The other team, sensing the tension between you, begins to double-team you, shooting from every angle. You dodge and weave, barely managing to stay alive. Just as you think you're about to be overwhelmed, you feel a hand on your shoulder. You turn to see him standing there, his face a mix of regret and determination.
"Sorry," he whispers, "I couldn't help myself."
You narrow your eyes at him, still feeling a bit of anger.
"Well, it was a stupid idea," you say through gritted teeth. "Now we're both in trouble."
He smirks, shrugging nonchalantly.
"What can I say? I can't resist you."
His hand slides down your arm, sending a shiver down your spine.
"But I promise, I'll make it up to you later."
You roll your eyes, but you can't help but feel a blush creeping up on your cheeks. You direct your focus back on the game. As the tension between you eases, your movements become more fluid and confident. You find yourself anticipating his next move, waiting for that familiar hand on your shoulder.
As the game comes down to the final seconds, you both exchange a glance, understanding what needs to be done. With one last burst of energy, you sprint across the arena, dodging laser beams and returning fire. Just as the other team thinks they have you cornered, you feel him push you from behind, propelling you forward. You spin around, aiming your gun at the last remaining enemy. Your heart pounds in your chest as you pull the trigger, the satisfying thwack of the laser gun filling the air.
The other team falls to the ground, defeated. The adrenaline from the game makes your heart race even faster, but this time it's not from anger or fear. It's a strange new feeling that you can't quite place. You glance over at him, noticing the way the light catches his eyes, making them glow.
"Why did you shoot me?" you finally ask.
He shrugs, feigning innocence.
"I thought you were one of them," he says with a grin. "You know how it is in the heat of battle."
But there's a sparkle in his eye that gives away his amusement.
You can't help but laugh at his response; the tension between you finally beginning to ease.
"Oh, so that's how it is? Well, next time I'll have to make sure not to get too close."
He rolls his eyes, but can't quite keep the smile from spreading across his face.
"You're such a drama queen, you know that?" He takes a step closer while leaning in. "But I think I like it."
He kisses you gently, his thumb caressing your cheek. You can feel the heat from his body, and for a brief moment, you forget about the game and everything else. You're lost in the moment, in the way he makes you feel. After a while, he pulls away with a smile.
"Let's go and grab something to eat. I think we earned it."
You nod as he interwinds your hands and gently pulls you outside the laser tag arena.
