It was a cool spring night, the kind where the air carries a chill that seeps into your bones and makes you want to burrow deeper into your covers. You were sound asleep, dreaming of far-off places and the adventures that lay ahead.
Suddenly, you felt a draft of air brush against your face, and your eyes snapped open. Sitting up in your bed, fear taking over your body. Your window was pushed open, and you could make out a figure dressed in a black hoodie looking inside. Their face obscured by shadow, holding out a single red rose. Your heart skipped a beat.
"Who's there?" you whispered, your voice trembling with fear and surprise.
There was no reply. The figure leaned in and merely extended the rose toward you and mouthed the words, "For you."
You turned on the lamp beside your bed. The small light illuminated the room enough to reveal the person's identity. It was him-your boyfriend. His face was flushed, his eyes shining.
"Why are you creeping outside my bedroom window?!" you asked, your heart still thumping violently in your chest.
"I thought it would be romantic if I climbed up here."
"You gave me a heart attack!"
"Sorry, babe, I missed you so much, I just had to see you."
You finally got up, reached out your hand out and took the rose from him. You felt a mixture of relief, joy, and fear wash over you as you took in the sight of your boyfriend standing there.
You glanced around, suddenly self-conscious about the state of your room."Uh, sorry for the mess in here, I was not expecting any late-night visitors."
He giggled.
"Are you going to come in, or are you planning on staying outside?"
He hesitated, glancing over his shoulder, before slowly climbing into the room. Once he was safely inside, he shut the window and turned to face you, a smile playing at the corners of his lips.
You crawled back into bed and gestured for him to lay down next to you. The two of you cuddled together under the covers, lost in each other's eyes, the rest of the world fading away. You felt the tension leave his shoulders as you wrapped your arms around him, his strong hands finding their way to your waist. You sighed contentedly, burying your face in his chest, inhaling the familiar scent of his cologne. You knew you should probably tell him to leave, but you didn't want to. Not yet. As if reading your mind, he leaned back slightly, a playful glint in his eyes.
"So, do you want to hear about my day?" he asked, a grin spreading across his face. "Well, I woke up this morning thinking about you..."
He trailed off, watching as you blushed and looked away shyly. You couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement run through you at his words.
He continued, telling you about his day at practice, the funny thing that happened, and the new song he'd recorded with Chan. You listened intently, laughing at his jokes and nodding along in agreement. Time seemed to fly by as you lost yourself in his stories and the warmth of his presence.
Eventually, the first rays of dawn crept through the curtains, signaling the approach of a new day. You reluctantly climbed out of bed, stretching your tired muscles and yawning.
"I should probably get going," he said, rising to his feet. "The boys will wonder where I am."
You nodded while feeling a little disappointed that the night had already ended.
"Thank you for coming to see me. It meant the world to me, even if you scared the living crap out of me!"
He stepped forward, cupping your face in his hands and leaning in to kiss you gently on the lips. As you felt the warmth of his lips against yours, you basically melted into his touch. When he pulled back, you looked into his eyes.
"I love you." you whispered, your voice barely audible.
"I love you more. I have to go now."
He leaned in again, giving you another loving kiss, his hands tangled in your hair. You could feel the heat between your bodies. He let out a shaky breath as he stepped back.
"I'll see you tomorrow," he whispered, his voice hoarse. "Be safe, okay?"
You nodded, your heart still racing from the intensity of the kiss.
"I will. Be careful too."
He hesitated for a moment, then reached down to grab his backpack from the floor. With one last glance back at you, he disappeared out your front door, the sound of his footsteps fading away.
