This one is a bit different. I hope you still enjoy it :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------You awaken to the sound of pounding on your door, your heart already racing. You fumble for the light switch as you stumble toward the entrance. There, on your front porch, shivering stands Changbin. You two have been enemies for as long as you can remember; always at each other's throats, never hesitating to throw each other under the bus. Yet here he is, shivering and scared out of his mind.
"I didn't know where else to go," he manages to croak out.
Your heart aches at the sight of him, but you can't help but feel a twinge of fear and uncertainty as well. You're not sure how this could possibly end well, but you can't just leave him out there to face whatever it is that's chasing him. You open the door wider and let him in, quickly closing it behind him to shut out the cold night air.
As you lead him to the couch, you can't help but notice how pale he looks, and the way he shivers uncontrollably. You grab a blanket from the back of the couch and wrap it around his shoulders, trying to warm him up.
"Here, take this," you murmur.
He burrows into the blanket gratefully, still not meeting your eyes.
You decide not to press him for answers just yet. For now, you want him to feel safe and comfortable. You rummage through your kitchen, making up a pot of hot tea, and set about brewing it on the stove.
"Do you want anything to eat?" you ask over your shoulder, not really expecting an answer.
Changbin, still wrapped in the blanket, shakes his head.
"No, thank you. I'm not very hungry."
His voice is barely above a whisper, and he doesn't look at you as he speaks. You can tell he's still in shock from whatever has happened to him. You finish making the tea and pour it into two mugs, then bring them over to the coffee table.
"Here, drink this. It should help warm you up," you say, handing him a mug.
He takes it gratefully and begins to sip it, closing his eyes as the hot liquid trickles down his throat. After a few moments, he sets the mug down on the table and looks up at you. His expression is haunted, and he seems to be searching for something in your eyes.
"Thank you," he finally manages to say. "I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't let me in."
His words hang in the air, heavy with the weight of their implications. You feel a strange mix of emotions: anger, fear, pity, and something else that you can't quite place. You want to ask him what happened, why he's here, but you also don't really want to know what he has been up to again.
Instead, you reach over and take his hand in yours. His skin is cold and clammy, and you can feel his pulse racing beneath your fingers.
"It's okay," you murmur, squeezing his hand gently. "You're safe here now. We'll figure things out together."
He looks up at you, and for a moment you can see the old Changbin in his eyes, the one you've known for so long, the one who was always so tough and fearless. But then the moment passes, and his expression softens, and he leans into your touch.
"Thank you," he whispers. "Thank you for believing me."
You feel a pang in your chest at his words. You don't know if you can trust him, not completely. But for now, you'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
"Get some sleep," you say gently, gesturing for him to lie down on the couch. "We can talk more in the morning."
He nods, grateful, and lies down, pulling the blanket up to his chin. His eyes close almost immediately, and his breathing slows as he drifts off to sleep. You watch him for a moment, wondering what tomorrow will bring. Will he tell you the truth? Will you be able to protect him?
You look at him a moment longer while the thoughts race through your mind, before making your way back to your room.*time skip*
When you wake up in the morning, Changbin is gone. The blanket is neatly folded on the couch, and there's a note on the coffee table. You pick it up, unfolding it carefully. His handwriting is shaky, almost illegible, as if he was hurrying to finish it.
Dear y/n,
thank you for letting me stay at your place and for not asking any questions. There's something going on in my life, something really bad, and I need your help. I can't tell you what it is right now, but I promise that I will, once the time is right.
Please trust me. I want you to promise me that you'll be careful. There are people out there who might be after me, or after us. I don't know how far they'll go. You're the only one I can trust right now.
I'll find a way to contact you when I can, or maybe I'll come back. Just be ready, okay?
Changbin
Your hands sink into your lap. Your thoughts are racing. Should you really trust Changbin? But do you have a choice, since you might be in danger too? You can't help but feel a determination to protect him and help him with whatever it is that he's facing.
One thing's for sure: you're in this together. No matter what comes your way, you'll have to face it together, as a team. And maybe, just maybe, you'll come out of this stronger than ever before.
