Cold Winter (Cole x Kai)

Warm Winter

The next few days were getting colder and colder. It started to get windy and the mornings were always foggy. The clothes changed from shorts and ripped jeans to long coats and comfortable pullovers.

It was night and the ninjas were preparing for dinner. Kai volunteered to take over cooking while Nya would set the table for him. Kai would unfold his talent in the kitchen but he had one disadvantage: he loves hot and spicy but the others don't. Whenever he cooked the food was to spicy for the others so he had to adjust it to the people around him. He hates it but the others forced him to do so.

In the kitchen Cole joined him and asked if he needs help. „You can help me by not touching anything. That would be great." Kai gave his answer to Cole. „Fine, then I'll just entertain you until you're finished." „Fine by me." Kai responded. „What's your favorite colour?" „...Red you dummy." „Your favorite food?" „Anything that wasn't made by you ;)" Kai grinned while Cole rolled his eyes. „Okay...why do you like this show so much?" „What, <it takes two>? Well...it has a good plot, the characters are written pretty well, the setting and the design are fitting and fascinating. I think it is just a really good show that everyone should watch." Kai responded. Cole thought if he should also watch it since Kai likes it so much.
„Is the food ready yet? I'm starving~" Jay screamed from the other room. „Eat your foot jay." Kai shouted back. He was done though so he took the plate over to the dining room.

Everyone assembled to eat. The water in their mouth running from the sight of food. Kai really knew how to present the food he made. He made ramen in which the noodles looked soft and the smell was to die for. Next to it were dumplings Lloyds favourite food. Kai knew that. He made them just for him since Lloyd has done so much for Ninjago so now in Kais opinion Lloyd has to get spoiled. „No way! I love you Kai." Lloyd yelled and attacked the dumplings. The others started to dig in too and enjoyed every bite of the food.

While eating Kai noticed Cole looking weirded out. He looked at him trying to understand what is happening. Kai then followed Coles gaze und noticed that he was looking at Jay. Clueless Kai looked at the boy and tried to figure out what was wrong when suddenly Kai understood what was happening.
Jay wasn't acting normal. He seemed red and unfocused. Now and then he gave a little gasp and he breathed out heavily. Nya is next to him acting normal but her hand is suspiciously moving under the table. Kai is shocked flabbergasted and disgusted.

„Kai, are you gonna eat your dumpling?" Lloyd asked making Kai flinch. „No...you can have it." Kai told Lloyd which made him the happiest ninja in the world. Kai still shocked looked over to Cole who now looked at him. His cheeks turned red when they made eye contact. This made the traumatised rock boy smirk. „Why are you smiling you stoner?!" Kai thought to himself but he couldn't bare it anymore. „Nya stop moving, the table is wobbling because of you" Kai declared acting as if he didn't notice.

Nya was red as a tomato and nodded. Jay looked to the side and hid his red face hoping no one would notice. At that moment Cole couldn't keep it anymore and he bursted out laughing. Everyone looked confused at the laughing black ninja. „The food was so good it made Cole go crazy" Lloyd explained in a monotoned voice. Kai on the other hand looked noticeably pissed. He glared at Jay with a ‚I'm going to kill you' look which made Jay laugh nervously.

At the end nobody was crazy or killed. Lloyd and Jay were cleaning up the table, Zane was doing the dishes, Cole drying the clean dishes and Kai stood on the side with his sister chatting away. „This feels good" Lloyd mentioned out of nowhere. All the others looked at him waiting for him to explain his comment. „Us together. It feels good." „Yeah, even though its freezing outside, in here it's still warm with you all." Cole continued with the sweetest smile. This made everyone realise how rich they actually are. They have each other after all and that's what's important.

Now everyone was smiling while continuing what they were doing. Cole was secretly looking at Kai and seeing how happy he looked made him relieved. Kai was oblivious of the stare he got and kept talking to his sister about what hair products they use. „Yeah maybe it works for you but not for me. My hair gets dry from it and I really don't need that." „Well maybe because you're using it wrong Nya. Your hair is beautiful but if you keep on doing such a nasty routine it won't last long. At least put some oil on it. I don't want my favourite sister to bold in her 30's." Kai commented which led to a punch in his arm. „Ouch, I'm just saying that because I care for your hair!" Nya glared jokingly at Kai and admitted that she should change her hair products.

Kai stopped the conversation because he felt someone drilling a hole in his back. He looked around which made Cole nervously look away. It wasn't very convincing and Kai felt suspicious of Cole. But why? Well he might have been daydreaming and accidentally looked at him is what Kai thought so he didn't really care anymore. Cole had some red on his cheeks. „Shit! I hope he didn't notice.." he yelled in his head.
