Cold Winter (Cole x Kai)

Daddy Issues

The snow was crunching as the ninjas stepped with their boots on it. „Do we have everything?" Cole asked while holding two large bags with their equipment. „Yes. We can move now." Lloyd answered and stayed behind to close up the van that was parked behind a tree.

Jay who was behind rushed over to his lover dodging the trees in the way to take the backpack from her and throw it over his own. „A princess shouldn't be carrying anything. It must already be hard to carry that amount of beauty and intelligence." Jay explained with an attempt to talk charmingly.

Nya giggled to this gesture and gave a elegant bow as a thank you. Jay knew she could carry that backpack with ease and him on top of it since Nya is quite strong. Nya also knew that but why decline such an offer. Being spoiled by their partner is the best feeling.

Lloyd who was left behind finished closing up the van and turned around to the direction they are moving so he can follow. To his surprise Kai was standing a bit further away waiting for him.

Lloyd with appreciation and a big smile jogged over to Kai so that they can walk together. Kai didn't give the happy boy much attention and started to move once Lloyd was next to him.

The forest way was quite unsafe with lots of rocks and sticks on the ground making it uneven. The worst part is that it's not even visible because of the snow that is layered over it. And as it was predicted Lloyd had to trip but luckily Kai caught him by his arm before anything could have happened.

„Haha thanks..." Lloyd said a bit embarrassed to which Kai didn't respond. This made Lloyd look over to Kai with a sulking face trying to get his attention but with no luck. Lloyd wasn't able to ignore Kais behaviour anymore and he started to have this hopeless feeling.

„I know you're not happy that we're visiting my father. I don't want to play the victim card here I promise because truth to be told I too am not sure about this." Lloyd expressed his worries while they were walking through the snow.

It was silent except for the snow sound they were making as Lloyd was talking.

„I should be happy that my father has returned to normal but I can't get rid of this feeling deep inside me telling me to be cautious. He left me when I needed him most and he did so many horrible things so why should I forgive him for that? ‚But Lloyd your father was poisoned so it's not his fault' is what most people would think but is it really like that? How can I be sure that it wasn't his own decision to leave me. How can I know that it wasn't his choice but the evil blood in him."

Lloyd looked over to Kai again and was met by a comforting gaze. Lloyd wanted to continue to talk but seeing Kai looking at him like that made his fake confidence drop and he wasn't able to keep it up anymore. And just like that his tears started to flow down his face forcing Kai to pull him into a tight hug.

Kai held Lloyd close to him protecting him from the world around them. He let the other boy cry as long as he needed.

Seeing Lloyd in such a miserable state brought Kai back to reality. Since yesterday he wasn't feeling like himself at all and all he wanted to do is just get through the day without any interactions.

He was feeling angry the whole time and he knew if something happened he wouldn't be able to contain himself and he would explode.

But that was selfish of him is what he thought. „Who cares about how I feel." Kai kept telling himself this persuading himself that he really didn't matter. Because of his tantrum he didn't notice how Lloyd has been and he hurt Cole the other day.

When Lloyd was able to relax again Kai let go of him and wiped his tears away. „I didn't know you were feeling that way Lloyd. And I'm not mad that we are visiting your father it's quite the opposite. I had painted a bad picture of him and so did the others. But now we can finally get to know him as who he really is. Spending some days at his place might change our perception of him. It might also help you with sorting your feelings about this whole situation." Kai explained as he brushed through Lloyds hair.

„And I am doubtful that this amazing guy won't have an amazing father." Kai grinned and messed up Lloyds hair to which Lloyd started to laugh but also defend his head from Kais destructive hands.

Kai lied. He could never trust Garmadon ever again not after what he did to his family- to Nya. He hated him and he agreed with Lloyds statement. There is no need to trust him because in the best case scenario that could happen nothing will change. But in the worst Kai might lose his family for real this time so why take the risk if it's this unbalanced anyways.

But for Lloyd he'll play along. Even if Garmadon turns out to be the holiest of the holy Kai will still keep his guard high up.

At the shelter arrived Kai and Lloyd looked at the place in astonishment. It was a tall house with beautiful ancient Chinese architecture with a big garden around it. The door opened revealing Nya in comfy clothes. „What took you so long!? We almost went out to search for you!" Nya shouted from the door and waved to them to come inside.

Kai and Lloyd walked in and Kai got a little punch on his back by his worried little sister. He laughed in response and apologised while holding his hands palmed together in front of him as a joke. Nya shrugged it off and started to laugh too. She's relieved to see Kai acting like himself again.

As they were joking around a tall in black ninja appeared with his boots on. „Oh Cole their back. You don't have to look for them anymore. Sorry for the trouble." Nya apologised and walked out of the foyer.

Kai looked over to Cole. „Crap. I did him dirty yesterday. Should I ask for forgiveness or should I act as if nothing happened..." Kais thoughts started to rush until Cole looked over to him.

Kai jumped a little from this and he stared back holding eye contact with him. Kai was about to say something but then he noticed the way Cole was looking at him. His stare was cold and it almost seemed as if Cole was looking down on him. He kept looking for a moment and then walked out following Nya.

„What was that just now?" Lloyd asked in shock by Coles attitude. Kai still with the same expression didn't move for a bit but pulled himself back together. „He's surely just angry that we took so long." Kai reassured Lloyd and gave him a smile.

„THIS BITCH! Who does he think he is?! I swear if Lloyd wasn't there I would have FUCKED him up! That's what they mean with if you give an ugly guy a chance he thinks he rules the world. Alright maybe I had made a little mistake that night but he wasn't innocent either. It's all his fault!!" Kai silently yelled in their room and was imagining himself strangling Cole.

The others were gathered with Garmadon while Kai went to also change into something more comfortable. While he was aggressively rummaging through his bag for clothes one cloth stuck out from the others.

Kai took it out and stared at it while his angry look changed into a pitiful one. „Why did I take this with me..." Kai with a depressed expression held it up for a period of time until he chose to put it back. Slowly he returned the sweater he got from Cole back into the bag now more irritated than before. „Fuck this is hurting my head."
