A few days have passed since they've returned to their base and even though the Ninjas just came back from a mission sensei Wu still wouldn't go easy on them. They trained, guarded, patrolled, meditated without a pause as if they were expecting the world to end soon.

One day Wu gathered his students in the training hall with news he had to tell. „You have all trained very well and for a reason. I agreed with an old friend of mine to organise a friendly match  between you and his students." Wu announced making everyones mood change to excitement. „See this as an opportunity to grow and learn more." He added and innocently smiled at them.

„I heard Sensei Wu speaking with the ‚friend' the other day... they made a bet on whose students will win this tournament..." Nya whispered to the others. „Hehehe then we shouldn't embarrass our sensei and beat the others hardcore." Jay stated and punched into his other palm all pumped up.

Everyone was hyped and started talking about it but Wu remained silent and awaited for his students to calm down again. Kai noticed his sensei staring at him with a worried expression „Kai you don't have to participate if it's too much for you." he said with a soft tone. „Are you kidding?! Of course I'll join! I'm all better anyways." Kai reassured as he started flexing his arms making the people around him giggle. But deep down everyone was worried.

„What if he sets his surroundings on fire?" Jay huffed while sparring with Nya only for her to give him an angry glare. Jay flinched to that and was about to back down but then he remembered what Cole had told him. „Nya there is no need to get angry at me like that. I didn't mean to offend you nor was that meant to hurt anyone. I was just unsure about the situation."

„No Jay you don't have to explain yourself. I know I overreacted and that was wrong of me. Thank you for calling me out and I will make sure I don't do it again." Nya said with manners and got closer to Jay to give him a smooch on the cheek.

She was thankful for the talk she had with her older brother. Through that she was able to improve herself which helped a lot with her relationship.

Jay blushed to this gesture and held his hand on the kissed cheek. „I like that hehe." He smiled stupidly and kissed Nya on her forehead.

His head suddenly trembled from an impact with an object that was sent flying at him. It was a shoe thrown by their youngest member who seemed to be annoyed. „Go to your room if you don't intend to train." He harshly said and awkwardly walked over to his shoe to put it back on.

„You go Lloyd! That's the way to treat slackers like them." Kai joked but stopped laughing as soon as he realised the way Lloyd was looking at him. He was being stared down by Lloyd no different from how he was looking at the lovebirds over there. Lloyd then walked out the room still with a puffed and angry face.

„Did I say something wrong?" Kai asked himself. „Nah, he's just moody since the day we returned from Garmadon. Maybe he misses his father..." Cole who walked over to Kai mentioned and rested his arm on Kais shoulder. „Yeah no, there's no way..." Kai answered knowing very well it couldn't have been this.

They continued training until the time had come. The competition was held outside on a wide field surrounded by snow. It was a clear day with the sun shining on them and the weather not being too cold.

When the ninjas arrived at the field the opponents were already there stretching and throwing punches. „They seem to know what they're doing..." Zane muttered a bit intimidated by them. „Don't worry Zane! You're definitely better than them!" Jay enthusiastically said and threw a punch up in the air. „Yeah, they're nothing compared to you! And not to forget, you're like totally in your element right now." Kai hyped up and placed his fist next to Jays.
