Cold Winter (Cole x Kai)

It was time to get out and meet with sensei Wu. „It's actually quite comfortable." Kai mentioned while pulling on his clothes to assure Cole that he likes them. „Glad to hear." Cole spoke and was genuinely happy that it's to Kais liking.

They continued to talk and went over to the door to get out. Coles door and the one facing it opened simultaneously making the two ninjas stop.

The other two from the other door also stopped and looked over to them. „NYA?" „oh no, Kai it's not what it looks like." Nya was standing at the other door with no one else but Jay whose room that was. Kai shifted from a surprised look towards Nya to an angry look towards Jay. „I'm gonna kill you." Kai hissed and was about to jump on Jay but Cole pulled him back in time. „How about you and your sis go on ahead. I still have to talk to Jay." Cole spoke and looked at Kai angrily telling him not to make a fuss now.

Kais furious look stopped for a moment and he actually obeyed Cole. Before he left he gave Jay another dirty look and with that he was gone with his sister.

„Was that really necessary? Can't you keep your hands to yourself for once?" Cole finally relaxed a bit but was still astonished by Jays stupidity. „Bro we are literally a couple so what's the problem?" „Kai is Nyas older brother that's the problem. How the hell do you think an older brother would react to something like this?! It's only natural to get angry." Cole sided with Kai in this matter which Jay didn't appreciate at all.

„Well how about you tell me what Kai was doing in your room huh?" Jay returned the attacks to Cole. „Nothing we were just hanging out." „Of course and that explains why Kais wearing your sweatshirt." Jay grinned and raised his eyebrow in a playful manner.

Cole looked away and didn't know what to say anymore. This made Jay only come closer while raising his eyebrow up and down. „It's not like that really." Cole broke character and started laughing. He then summarised what happened that night without mentioning when Kai got sick or the kiss they shared.

„You really brushed through his hair and he didn't take that hint?" „Yeah we went to sleep after and nothing happened later on...well he was kind of snuggled up to me when I woke up but that was merely an accident." Cole told Jay a bit disappointed at his own comment.

Jay shook his head and couldn't believe Cole wasn't able to man up and seduce the fire boy. „You're an embarrassment for all ninjas Cole." Jay concluded and walked off to go stand next to Nya.

Nya looked uncomfortable and didn't seem as if she felt like talking to Jay. „What's wrong Nya?" Jay asked and held her shoulder but Nya remained quiet. Jay let it go for now because sensei Wu has arrived and started talking about what they are going to do today. „It might be quiet but we'll never know what's awaiting for us next so be careful." With that Wu left and let his students go to fulfill their duty.

„I cannot believe it! Another day consisting of patrolling the streets. We're ninjas dammit not the patrol police ." Jay huffed while walking in the snow. Lloyd nodded in agreement and pushed some snow while walking.

„As ninjas our duty is to protect the innocent even if it meant to partake in roles that don't fit the stereotypical ninja codex." Zane voiced his opinion to which Lloyd nodded and agreed.

„After literally saving the world to be reduced to such an activity? I think we're entitled for more." Jay maintained his composure against Zanes strong argument which made Lloyd nod in agreement.

„Stop it you guys you'll give Lloyd an identity disorder if you continue with this arguing." Kai jokingly claimed and put his hands over Lloyds ears to which Lloyd nodded. Kai looked at Lloyd with a <it's to late> look and started fake sobbing. „Kai stop it I haven't gone crazy yet!" Lloyd yelled and wagged with his arms to get Kai to move. Kai started laughing and put his hands up as a sign of giving in.

„Come on, stop playing around we have work to do. We have to split now. Jay and Zane go north. Kai and Nya you'll go east and me and Lloyd we'll go west." Cole ordered and pointed on the mentioned directions. Everyone nodded and went their way.

„you wanted me in your group so badly." Lloyd teased and was laughing while circling Cole. „Who wouldn't want to be with you in a group. But I also had to keep the troublemakers away from each other." Cole explained and gave a look to Lloyd. „That would be Jay, Kai and me, right?" Lloyd laughed and followed Cole to check on the people of the city.

At Nyas and Kais patrol route it was silent. Both walked and kept their heads on the look out. The only thing they didn't look at was at each other. „It's cold today." „Don't bother starting any small talk brother." Nya said with a poker face not looking at her sibling.

Kai didn't accept the way Nya was talking to him especially because he thought she was in the wrong. „I'm only trying to look out for you! Stop being so oblivious of it!" Kai yelled at her and swung his arms around.

At that moment something snapped in Nya and she walked towards Kai. „OBLIVIOUS?! You're the one who is oblivious to everything!" Nya screamed and pulled Kai by his collar so that he was facing her now.

„From what exactly are you trying to protect me? Jay is the sweetest boy I've ever encountered and he's so good to me. You know that you do! But you still want to act as if you have the upper hand over me by controlling me around! You don't care about my safety, you just want to remain as the one in power! I'm sick of that and I'm sick of the way you act with me. So get off my back and leave me alone." With that Nya pushed Kai to the ground and tried to walk off but Kai grabbed her by her ankle insisting she'd stay.

„I don't give a fuck about that controlling talk you're getting on about but I do care about my damned sister! Even if you wouldn't listen to me I wouldn't get mad at you because I love you and I could NEVER ever be angry at you. I just need to keep you safe and the only way to do that is by keeping you close to me so that I can protect you! Mom and dad..." Kai stopped and started to breath heavily by mentioning their parents. Nya was shocked and her eyes were teary.

Neither of them would ever mention their beloved parents. It was a topic hidden deep inside that just awaited to be awoken.

„Mom and dad...they entrusted you to me...they told me to look after you." Kai couldn't keep it together for long and his eyes began to water. „You're my only family Nya and I can't lose you." Kai sobbed putting his hands in front of his face so it won't be visible. „Not again.."

Nya kept staring at her brother who never thought of showing his weak side to anyone. There he was at rock bottom crying and talking about the feelings he had been hiding his whole life. She really was oblivious is what she thought. How could she not realise how lost her brother actually was.

From the moment they took over the family shop to the day she got kidnapped to the many times where they encountered near death situations to the first time having an intimate relationship and lastly till this day. Nya never thought of her brother in those moments but Kai always thought of her.

Traumatised from the leave of their parents he is scared he might lose Nya too...and he many times almost lost her.

„That day when they got you...I could only think about how I could never forgive myself if something happens to you. I swore to never let something like this happen again but then it happened again. Ha you got poisoned and turned evil and there I had to play it cool so that we could save Ninjago while Jay was crying around like a baby. Luckily everything turned out to be okay but now I'm just aware that we'll never be safe...you'll never be safe." Kai continued and swiped away his tears returning back to normal.

He was embarrassed for showing his sister this side of him but he couldn't help it. Kai was about to look at Nya because she hadn't said a word till now but at that moment she jumped onto him and held him tight in her arms. „I'm sorry Kai..." she cried and hugged Kai even tighter. „I'm sorry for being oblivious."

Kai is aware that the things he does and say sometimes are not normal. That's just how he has been his whole life. Still that's no excuse for making his sister feel suffocated so he swore to change. „Don't be sorry you didn't do anything wrong... I'm the one to blame. I'll be better I promise"
