An hour before Kai and Lloyd returned from the mission Cole came home from his part time job. He worked as an body guard for a celebrity called ‚Flaze' who was pretty famous in Ninjago City. But being around him was such an bad experience for Cole.
„He is so selfish. Keeps talking about himself and he orders everyone around. My job was to protect him but at that moment I might have been the biggest threat to him. I was this close to punching him in his guts!" Cole vented to Nya who was working on her Samurai suit. She listened to him carefully while repairing some broken parts. „Well aren't most famous people like that? I believe the fault lies on the people who support humans like that without knowing who they really are. I mean just because this person wrote a good song doesn't mean you need to glorify them. How about celebrating humans who truly achieved something like scientists, human right fighters and so on. I just don't get it..." Nya reinforced Coles statement about this matter.
„Yes your right. I can't imagine why people like this Flaze dude." „Did I just hear Flaze? No way Cole, was your client THE Flaze? Can you get me an autograph??" Jay appeared from the other room fanboying over Flaze. Nya and Cole looked at each other and there was their answer.
After a while Cole noticed Kais absence so he asked about him. Nya told him he went on a mission with Lloyd two hours ago. Cole didn't like that at all.
Sensei Wu was meditating until someone knocked on the door. „Come in." Wu answered unbothered without opening his eyes. The door creaked open and a big muscled guy entered. „How can I help you Cole?" Cole sat in front of his sensei on the laid out pillows which disappeared underneath him because he is so big. „Why did you sent Kai to this mission?" Wu finally opened his eyes and looked at the earth ninja. „Why shouldn't I?" Wu replied calmly. „It's cold outside. He might have trouble in this weather." Cole said with a worried tone. „A ninja shouldn't be affected by their surroundings. You aren't indicating that I shouldn't have sent Kai out because it might get cold for him are you? I understand you're worried but there is nothing to worry about." Wu answered and closed his eyes again. Cole nodded but was not satisfied at all. Sensei Wu didn't seem to understand how difficult it could get for Kai. Nobody understood this except for Cole because he was there when it happened.
An hour later Kai and Lloyd had returned back home. Both seemed fine and they even brought some food with them. They then gathered in the living room and ate together. Kai bought a cake specifically for Cole which made him appreciate Kai for remembering him. „And then this girl went over to Lloyd all giggly and asked for a picture. You should have seen Lloyds face! He was so red that it looked like he was about to collapse." Kai exposed Lloyd while laughing out loud. Lloyd blushed and kicked Kai off the sofa which made the red ninja crack up even more.
Later that day everyone was doing their own thing. Cole was doing his laundry so he thought he could do the laundry for the others too. He went from door to door knocking and entering to get the dirty clothes. At Kais door he paused for a bit. Before he was able to knock at the door it opened revealing Kai who looked at his phone.
The unfocused ninja bumped into Cole making them both stumble back. „Oh Cole. What are you doing here? Don't tell me you want to sniffle around my room without my knowledge?" Kai joked with the black ninja while getting teasingly closer. Cole took a step back and explained he was doing the laundry.
He didn't like it when Kai got close to him and how he made these comments. It made his body burn up but he can't show that. „Really? Let me help you then. I don't have anything to do anyways." Kai suggested and led his friend in.Cole looked around the room with eyes wide open. „What happened here? Did someone break in? And what's that smell? Oh shit I think I'm going to throw up." Cole expressed his feelings very well by even fake gagging. Kai shook his head at this gesture and looked annoyed at him. „Stop overreacting. It's just some clothes and other stuff I haven't sorted out yet. And the smell...that's my cheese sandwich. It's still good though...I think." Cole looked over to the nightstand where the sandwich is located. The color of it had faded into a greenish texture which made Coles stomach turn.
„I don't think you should help me with the laundry. You have a priority which is cleaning your room." Cole pointed out while picking up some pants that were on the ground. Kai rolled his eyes and told Cole that he didn't mind his room like that. Cole on the other hand insisted and he promised he was going to help. These two were almost the opposite of each other. Whilst Cole was a clean addict who couldn't bare looking at unsorted or dirty stuff Kai was an undisciplined boy who threw anything anywhere.
Kai eventually agreed to cleaning his room so they put the laundry to the side to start with the mess. They started by sorting out the dirty and the clean clothes which wasn't a lot of sorting since almost all clothes were dirty. Next was vacuuming and dust sweeping. After all this, the only thing left were small adjustments.
„How was Lloyd? Did he do good?" Cole asked Kai about the mission which made Kai flinch and stop what he was doing. He then continued making the bed and gave a small smirk. „Yeah...he did well." Kai answered hesitant which hasn't escaped Cole. „Kai...did something happen? You can talk to me you know that right?" Cole reassured his friend while holding eye contact with him. Kai but laughed it off and told him there was nothing to worry about. He changed the subject but that made Cole even more suspicious.
He didn't say anything and walked over to the drawer to put in some socks. As he opened the drawer he noticed it was filled with heating pads and pills. „The weather sure is getting colder." Cole said loudly to get Kais attention. Kai saw what Cole was looking at and that got him silent. He then rushed over to Cole and closed the drawer. „That's none of your business." Kai spat out.
That hurt Cole for sure but he didn't show it. „Why are you getting all defensive man. I know that you're cold...I know from last time-." „Don't you ever mention that again." Kai warned and pushed Cole away. Realising what he just did he looked away in shame. „Last time was nothing. I was just tired at that moment so it's not that deep." Kai tried to lighten the situation up by smiling and giving Cole a little nudge on his arm but Cole maintained his serious look. „Clinging onto me and crying about how cold it is is pretty deep in my opinion." He said harshly.
But then his look softened at once and he had this sweet worried expression. „sighh..I just want you to know if you're not feeling well you can always come to me. And don't worry I won't tell anyone." With that Cole closed the drawer not giving it any attention anymore.
Kai remained silent and went back to putting the pillow on his finished bed. „No need." Kai finally said in a low voice which Cole almost didn't hear.
