Cold Winter (Cole x Kai)

„Guess what." „What?" „Stupid I asked you to guess." „You...YOU KISSED NYA!!?!!" Cole looked at Jay with the most exhausted expression. „It's Zanes birthday Jay..." „Oh yes of course. I knew that." Jay grinned and gave a thumbs up. „I thought we could do something for him this year. Like a small surprise." Cole suggested which made Jay smile real big. „Yes let's do a surprise party! That'll be so much fun!" Jay cheered and stormed off right away to tell the others. Zane wasn't in the apartment in the moment so they're gonna use this opportunity.

Everybody joined except for Kai. „He was in the shower when I knocked." Jay told the others. „What? He's still not out? He told me three hours ago that he wants to shower." Nya claimed. „Seriously he is using all the hot water just so he can take care of himself. His self care routine is one too much." Jay said annoyingly. Cole volunteered to go get him even if it meant to throw him out the bathroom.

Cole entered Kais room. He invited himself in since Kai couldn't hear the knocking from the loud shower. He then walked to the bathroom door and opened it slightly. „Kai? Can you hear me?" Cole called on Kai but no answer. He pushed the door a bit wider. All of a sudden steam came out of the bathroom making Cole back down. „Agh hot." Cole thought to himself. So Kai was really using all the hot water but wasn't it too hot? Cole started to worry. „So much steam...Can he even breathe in there??" Cole started to panic.

He debated if he should go in and he quickly chose to walk in. „Kai sorry for entering. I just want to check up on you." Cole called from the door and went in. It was almost white from all the steam which made it difficult to see and even though Cole has been in there for only half a minute he was already sweating.

At the shower arrived Cole looked at the curtains and there was a silhouette noticeable. „Kai?" Cole half shouted one last time. This time the boy heard him. He didn't just hear it but he was startled by it which made him jump. That didn't end well since the ground was all wet. Kai slipped and fell onto the curtains.

To his surprise it didn't hurt too much but that was because he fell right on top of Cole who had to take the painful fall for him. „Ugh..Cole? What the hell are you doing here?" Kai demanded to know. But Cole was unresponsive. Kai called out to him a second time and no answer. Scared he then looked down at Cole to see if his fine but Cole didn't seem to be knocked out.

Quite the opposite his cheeks were red and his eyes were wide open staring down. Kai confused followed his stare and he finally realised what was happening. Kais face was burning red and his eyes started to tear from embarrassment. He quickly stood up and took the curtain that fell down from the accident to cover up.

Cole rasped and also stood back up still blushing. „It's..it's really hot in here. Lets get out." Cole proposed and walked out. Kai joined a minute later after he put on some clothes. „So what do you need?" Kai asked acting as if nothing happened. „Guess what." Cole then told him about the surprise party and how he should also join. This made the other boy excited. „He'll never see that coming." Kai said while grinning like an idiot. This made Cole laugh seeing how excited the red ninja is.

„But why the hell were you showering for so long in steaming hot water?" Cole asked when they got out of the room. Kai then answered with an attitude: „Because I'm the fire ninja, duh? Heat doesn't affect me..." Cole knew that but at the moment he really was scared for him. And even if Kai isn't affected by the heat why turn it that high up though? Coles only guess was that he was cold and tried to warm up.

Now Cole, Kai, Nya, Jay and Lloyd gathered in the kitchen. „I'll take care of the food. Who wants to be my assistant? And no Cole not you." Kai remarked and looked at Cole who was about to speak. „I'll help!" Lloyd spoke happily while holding his arm up. Kai gave a nod and smiled at Lloyd. „Nya and me are going to decorate the dining room. We need some essentials first so we'll be out for a bit." Jay stated with Nya in his arms. „We'll make it winter themed since Zane likes winter the most and because it's winter right now I guess." Nya added to the conversation.

Cole was the only one left with no work to do. „You can be my assistant Cole!" Lloyd suggested. Kai smirked at that comment „Yeah why not. The assistant of an assistant" Kai made fun of Cole. Cole didn't mind as long as he could help with something so they all agreed on the jobs.

Lloyd was mixing the dough and Kai made the topping. Cole would bring them the things they needed wether it was eggs or a spoon. They also discussed many topics which one of them was about the gi design. „I quite like the newest one" Yeah it's my favourite too." Lloyd and Cole agreed. „I have to admit our old ones were the ones that spoke to me the most. The simple design was cool and they were pretty comfortable." Kai exclaimed while putting the finished cake in the oven. „No Kai you're just still hang up on the old gis because they have so many memories." „Aww Kai is so sentimental. Who would have thought." Lloyd and Cole exchanged while giggling. Kai gave them an angry look which made them laugh even more.

They were right though. Kai is really hang up on the memories and he was really sad when they had to get rid of the original gis.

„So Lloyd tell me how was the mission with Kai? I hope he wasn't too harsh on you?" Cole asked Lloyd who was working on the sandwiches. „Nah he was really cool. The way he got the snake by its throat and then BAM he threw the snake on the-" Kai stared at him with a look that screamed shut up. Lloyd slapped his mouth and looked at Cole who was now smiling.
„Oh so this snake didn't sacrifice itself?"

„It's not my fault! Kai told me to lie because I had to decide and I decided for the right thing..or that's what I think and he was so angry was yelling but then he apologised and we hugged but the snake was still there and he was like ‚that's mine' and-." „Okay okay calm down Lloyd. I trust you made the right decision but what did you say about Kai? He screamed at you?" Cole interrupted Lloyd to understand what happened.

Lloyd gave Kai a quick look and then looked down. „It wasn't his fault. He was angry at me because I did something stupid. He didn't even tell on me when we came back. Even though I disappointed him." Lloyd said with his eyes narrowed.

Kai went over to Lloyd and held his face gently with both hands. „I could never be angry at you Lloyd. You made a mistake but that's the only way to learn so don't be harsh on yourself. And...at that time I shouldn't have acted like that...I..I wasn't feeling too well and I let my anger out on you. I regret what I did so much and I want you to know that whatever happens I'll always love you." Kai explained calmly while gently petting Lloyds face. Lloyd is a strong boy but he still has a sweet and innocent side to him. Kais paragraph made Lloyd tear up and he started sobbing.

It was evening and Zane finally came back home. Everyone was hiding but Cole who greeted the ice ninja. „Hey Zane, guess what."
