Cold Winter (Cole x Kai)

Green Ninja

At the table everyone was chatting and awaiting Zane who was on breakfast duty to bring in the last dish. With his arrival the eating began with no hesitation.

Zanes food was as always the best and it always felt like a reward when Zane did the cooking. „We should have a showdown between Kai and Zane about who is the better cook." Lloyd suggested hoping to have double the good food he'd normally have.

Of course both had a talent for cooking but whilst Zanes food felt like the one you eat at fancy restaurants Kais gave the feeling of eating homemade food the way your caregiver would make it.

„There is no need. It's clear that I'd win." Kai bluffed and gave a fancy smirk. Zane laughed to this comment and was clearly amused by Kais certainty. „In your dreams. Wait no, not even there." Kai looked shocked at Zane who just gave the sassiest reply making the whole room go silent.

„WHAT?!" Nya screamed with a confused laugh and her gaze at Zane. The table broke out in laughter nobody believing what they've heard. Zane surely didn't learn to talk like this on his own. „Jay it was you wasn't it! Stop teaching this little cinnamon that kind of talk!" Kai yelled not able to contain his laughter.

„You always point your finger at me!" Jay yelled. „But yes it was me. He has to learn how to defend himself verbally after all!" Jay explained his reasoning behind this. This was justified since all the others also believed Zane should try to be more expressive.

At that moment sensei Wu entered the dining room and sat down next to Nya. „I see you all have energy at this early hour." Wu said with a smile.

He then turned his attention to Lloyd who was avoiding to look at him. „Lloyd when will you be returning from your mission?" Wu asked while pouring in some juice. Lloyd stopped playing with his food and hesitatingly looked up to Wu. „Around six. It won't be long." He answered and awaited Wus reaction.

Sensei Wu nodded and gave him a pat on the shoulder. „I wish you all luck." Sensei Wu said assuring Lloyd that he wasn't mad at him.

The day before when Lloyd returned home with Kai and Cole he had a talk with sensei Wu who was seemingly distressed by the decision he had made. „Even though you abused my trust I believe I shouldn't have responded in that manner. You deserve my apology and I hope I didn't hurt you too much Lloyd." Wu apologised with the knowledge that he was in the wrong.

Sometimes even the wisest man can make a mistake is what Lloyd had to learn that day. But he wasn't better when it comes to that. Lloyd also apologised for making sensei Wu mistrust him and he promised he'll be better. They came to the agreement that Wu will listen more to Lloyds trouble and Lloyd will discuss any issues with him instead of hiding it.

Back at the present Lloyd smiled a little thinking that things will get better from now on. „Kai you volunteered to join him if I'm not mistaken?" Wu asked Kai who was still discussing with Jay about the bold phrases Jay taught Zane.

„Yeah I'll go with him-" Kai answered quickly and went back to the conversation he had with Jay. „What if someone said something about his looks? How should he respond?" Kai asked curious and too distracted by Jays creative slangs.

This is the first time since long were Jay and Kai had a harmless and well talk without any bad intentions or hidden hatred. Nya couldn't help but watch the two boys have this ridiculous talk.

She was happy to see her brother and partner getting along and having fun together. Something that she had missed a lot. Even though Jay and Kai tried to hide their conflict from Nya she wasn't stupid and she was well aware of what was happening. So being able to see them enjoy their company was a relief for her.

After breakfast Lloyd had to leave right away. Kai with his packed backpack and cozy clothes was going to follow the blonde boy but got pulled to the side by his secret lover.

„Why are you going with him? They only requested Lloyd so there is no need for you to go." Cole asked upset because he wanted to spend his not so often happening free time with the fire boy.

„I have to go." Kai said without any clear reason. Cole sighed annoyed and let Kai go. „Then I'll join too." Cole said and walked along Kai to which Kai didn't mind.

Arriving at the destined house Lloyd took a deep breath before ringing the bell. The door opened revealing a tired looking man who lit up at the sight of the ninjas. Behind him were loud stomps getting closer as if a herd of bulls were running towards them.

The man was pushed aside and a large crowd of children looked out the door. „IT'S THE GREEN NINJA!!" The children screamed and charged at Lloyd. In under a second Lloyd was drowning in a crowd of little kids while Kai and Cole were standing a bit further behind.

„So this is why Kai told me not to put on my gi." Cole thought as he watched Lloyd sink deeper and deeper. He looked over to Kai to see Kai enjoying this moment as he was filming it. „And that's why Kai wanted to tag along." Cole understood Kais intentions and laughed.

After the man managed to scoop all children off of Lloyd he invited them in. The house had colourful decorations and in the middle was a cake with candles on it. It was a birthday party for the son of the police officer Lloyd had punched. As a compensation the man requested the green ninja to come to his sons birthday since he is a big fan of him.

It's not a secret that celebrities got special treatment which is the case here. „I can't believe I'm doing this." Lloyd cried out silently as he was tying up a balloon making it look like a dog. „It was this or prison Lloyd. You should be grateful for having punched such a nice man." Kai talked while still holding his phone towards Lloyd.

While Lloyd was still sulking and doing what the kids wanted to do Kai was caught up in the moment and he was now with the children playing and talking with them.

„No, if Cole and Kai were to face each other Kai would definitely win. That's basic math." „What are you talking about. Have you seen Coles muscles? His a lot stronger!" Kids argued about who would win in a fight between Kai and Cole.

„He might be strong but Kai has a lot of advantages over him. He is faster, smarter, better looking and he has the fire on his side. So Kai would basically win." Kai joined the conversation ready to convince all children that he is stronger than Cole.

Cole overheard this and chuckled from Kais childish act. „There's no way Kai could win against the earth ninja. Cole could crush him with his bare hands." Cole said aggressively with his eager eyes on Kai making Kai blush.

The party lastet almost a whole day and when it was finally over the man thanked the ninjas for helping him out with the party. Lloyd apologised again for what he did and thanked him for the invitation.

„It's finally over!" Lloyd breathed out and stretched his arms while walking in the snow. „It was really fun especially that time when the children drew on your face." Kai smirked and held his phone with a picture of Lloyd with his face covered with drawings.

Lloyd reached out to get the phone but Kai instinctively pulled away and started mocking Lloyd. „Don't you dare show it to anyone!" „Of course I won't. Nobody knows we were at this party after all. I ain't exposing us." Kai reassured Lloyd who was anxious that sensei Wu could find out what he did that night.

The three made the conclusion that keeping that night a secret was the best option. Everyone else in the team had no idea that Lloyd went absurd that day nor that he had to go to a birthday party to avoid any further consequences.

The walk back home was comfortable with Kai and Cole joking about todays event and Lloyd huffing by the comments. It was a great change from their daily routine.
