Cold Winter (Cole x Kai)

Ghoustly Encounter

Cole and Jay were chit chatting and walking until the dark forest got unnaturally quiet making the two boys stop. „The silence is creeping me out.." Jay admitted and was looking around in caution. Cole who was back to back with Jay was also on the look out for any possible attacks.

The loud silence was broken by ghoulish noises from far away. These screeching and disturbing sounds were getting closer and closer. „We're dead." Jay concluded while Cole started to sob again. And as predicted they were surrounded by undead creatures and monsters that were aiming for them.

As the first monster ran towards the crying Cole who held his weapons in a defensive stance something came in between and sliced the monster in half. „Kai!" Jay yelled from beside cheerfully knowing they don't have to fight alone anymore. „Your backup has arrived." Kai said with a grin and his eyes on his next target.

Cole quickly wiped off his tears and cleared his throat hoping that Kai didn't see any of that. Jay rolled his eyes at his lovesick friend but was relieved that he didn't have to listen to Coles howls anymore.

He also was distracted by two creatures attacking him from both sides but was rescued by Zane who froze the creatures heads so that Jay could shatter them. „Thanks Zane you're a lifesaver." Jay sighed in relief and patted Zanes back as a thank you.

They fought for a while but noticed soon that it was impossible to win like this. „This must be the place were the earth and the other realm are the most connected. I believe we have found what we are looking for." Zane informed the others and suggested to call the remaining ninjas and Garmadon.

Until help arrives the four had to fight for their lives. Kai was focused on sword fighting a spirit whose head was missing until he noticed something creeping up on Cole who was distracted by other creatures.

He immediately stabbed the spirit in front of him and sprinted towards Cole pushing him to the side so that the attacking monster missed him. With one go Kai jumped towards the monster and swung his sword making it burn up and die.

Kai retrieved his sword and stood back up with blood splattered on his face. Cole was fascinated by how Kai could look so beautiful while slaying monsters. Kai then turned around to face Cole expecting him to be grateful but he was greeted with a cold expression instead.

„I don't need your help so stay away from me." Cole with a mean look demanded and walked off to fight. Kai stood there flabbergasted and with his mouth open. „This fucking stoner." Kai said under his breath while grinding his teeth.

Good thing they were on a battlefield so that Kai could let out his anger on their enemies. Smashing their heads and twisting their bodies felt great for Kai almost therapeutic.

Meanwhile Cole was having a debate inside of his head if that's really how he should have acted. His worries were soon gone when Jay slowly got closer to Cole while fighting so he can share his opinion on Coles behaviour. „Dude, that was great! You must have seen his face he was so irritated when you didn't thank him." Jay laughed and made fun of Kai while he threw some punches at the ghouls around him.

Cole shook his head at Jays childish talk but he now felt safer about what he had done to Kai. „I can't always let everything slide or people will abuse it" Cole thought and was convinced he has to be harsh for once.

Nya, Lloyd and Garmadon finally arrived and helped them with the remaining monsters until there was nothing left. The path was clear and free from any harm but it was getting late so the ninjas agreed on continuing this work tomorrow.

Back at the mansion everyone dispersed and were doing personal things. Kai was in Lloyds, also his room changing to something more comfortable. He didn't want to admit to himself that he was freezing and tried to ignore the aid call from his body. While he put on multiple layers of clothing he was shivering from head to toe.

His stomach began to grumble. He hadn't eaten a full meal since forever and he's starting to notice this. Looking in the mirror his face never looked that bad. Dark circles under his eyes, pale skin and a dry feeling to it. He felt disgusting and cold.

His self-disapproval was interrupted by the door opening and a sad Lloyd walking in. „Kai..." Lloyd said when noticing that he's here. „What's wrong?" Kai asked putting himself once again aside but happy he has a distraction from this low feeling now.

Lloyd sat down on the bed and sighed. „It's nothing...I just don't feel good around my father. He's trying so hard, he kept talking to me and even apologised but I..." „You don't have to explain yourself Lloyd. If you don't want it then don't force yourself. You saw he was at least trying to make you feel safe around him so you can respect him for that but you don't have to go any further." Kai explained and sat next to Lloyd.

„Is it really okay if I don't see him as a fatherly figure in my life?" Lloyd asked with a broken expression. Kai patted his back and gave him a nod while smiling to which Lloyd seemed relieved. He might not see Garmadon as the supportive role in his life because this role has been already taken. Lloyd had his family right here. Cole, Jay, Nya, Zane, his uncle and the most important Kai. He doesn't need anyone else as long as he has them.

After a while Kai chose to go to the living room. On his way he passed Cole who was peeping into the bathroom but Kai didn't give any attention to that.

On second thought Kai might have gotten suspicious and slowed down to look back at Cole. „What's he looking at?" Kai thought and convinced himself he had to go look not that Cole was watching his sister. Of course Kai knew that Cole would never do that but he didn't want to admit that he got a bit jealous and felt like he was being cheated on. He could be watching anyone and be turned on by it.

„What are you looking at?" Kai who had creeped behind Cole spoke into his ear. Cole jumped and was about to throw a punch but he was able to stop himself last second. „Kai! Don't scare me like that!" Cole took a deep breath and glared at the fire boy. His attitude changed but quickly and he looked at Kai with his frightened eyes. „There is something in the bathroom." Cole whispered and pointed at the door.

Kai heard enough and he slammed the door open. He walked into the steamy room with an intimidated Cole behind him and called for the ghost to come out.

„AHH THERE IT IS!" Cole yelled and hid his face behind Kai. Kai looked over to where Cole was looking at and there truly was something that made Kais heart stop. „JAY! IS THAT MY LIMITED EDITION EARTH DEEP PORE CLEANSING MASK?!" Kai shouted and pushed the frightened earth boy away from him. „Hehehe...oupsy" Jay awkwardly laughed embarrassed that he was found out.

There wasn't even a second before Kai jumped on him ready to beat the rare and expensive products out of him but he was pulled away by Cole in an instant. „Calm down Kai it's just a mask!" Cole yelled and looked over to Jay who was laying on the ground in shock.

Kai was huffing heavily and he couldn't contain his anger at all. He pushed off Cole and stormed out of the bathroom smashing the door behind him.

The two boys were left speechless in the bathroom. „And you fell in love with that?" Jay sarcastically but at the same time seriously asked while standing back up again. Cole knew that Kai was short-tempered but that wasn't his usual behaviour. He normally is harsh with his words but he never choses violence unless it's necessary. But for the last few weeks he's been more outspoken and his behaviour changed dramatically. He became more aggressive and full of hatred.

Kai was in Lloyds room alone laying on the bed. His heart was pounding and he felt his head was about to explode. It was time for dinner and Lloyd came to tell Kai to come eat. But Kai didn't feel like it so he pretended to be asleep. He needed some time alone so that he can calm down.
