At one go all of them jumped out from their hiding spot. „Happy birthdayy!!" they cheered and clapped for Zane. They also popped some confetti and lightened sparkling candles. Zane was surprised because he thought nobody remembered. „Thanks guys I'm really gra-." „Come on birthday boy blow out the candles!" Jay screamed interrupting Zane. Jay got a punch from Nya for ruining Zanes speech.

But Zane wasn't angry. On the opposite he was quite happy and he even laughed from Jays dumb action. „The cake looks delicious. Thanks as always Kai." Zane thanked and gave Kai an awkward but cute smile. „I didn't make the cake I just helped with it. Lloyd was the one who baked it for you. He even chose the flavour." „Vanille, because its scent isn't strong but it gives the calm and relaxation one experiences when they found where they truly belong. Its taste is healing which gives comfort and a sense of acceptance. It reminded me of you Zane." Lloyd explained and looked at the cake proudly.

With this Zane felt his robot heart burst. He could never imagine a life without them and he'd do anything for them. „Oh Lloyd I didn't know you were so sentimental" Kai teased Lloyd like he teased him before. Lloyd rolled his eyes and laughed.

At the table all of them were talking and enjoying the time together. „Where were you today Zane?" „My dad invited me to celebrate together. He gave me a necklace as a present." Zane explained and showed the golden necklace to the others. It was a falcon with its wings spread open. It looked powerful and it was all shiny.

Everyone was focused on Zane and his necklace but Nya had something else on mind. She kept looking in Kais direction. He seemed oddly silent and he didn't look too well. This made Nya worry. „Kai are you okay? You seem...absent." Nya asked concerned for her brother. Kai looked at her visibly tired and pale but he still gave a small grin. „I'm fine sis. The weather's just giving me a little headache. I might go to sleep now since I woke up pretty early today anyways." Kai assured Nya so she doesn't have to worry anymore.

Nya still not convinced that he's fine put her hand on his face to measure the temperature. „What the- Kai you're burning!" Nya announced and pulled her hand away in a fast manner. This caught everyone else's attention and they looked over to the siblings. „I'm fine Nya." Kai whispered annoyed so that no one else heard. „Ah yes I'm the fire ninja after all." Kai tried to act cheerful. „So guys I'm sleepy so I'll go to bed now. Cleaning duty is on the person who interrupted Zane." Kai declared while walking out the room. „What?! No way I'll clean on my own. Don't run away from your duties stupid fire boy!" Jay yelled making the others laugh. Nya watched Kai walk out not knowing what she should do. Her brother would never admit that he isn't feeling well. His ego is too big for that.

Kai finally arrived in his room and he now was able to drop the act. The first thing he did was run to his bed and hide under the blankets. He was shivering like crazy and he felt like he was about to freeze to death. Snuggled in the bed sheets he tried to reach the drawer next to the bed but with no luck.

„Here you go" An arm stretched to Kai giving him a heating pad. „Thanks...WAIT WHAT?!" Kai jolted springing out from under the bed covers. It was Cole with a grin clearly making fun of Kai. „What are you doing here?" Kai asked flabbergasted because normally Cole would always knock, he's the most polite after all. „I got scared something might have happened to you...so I came to check up on you and by the looks of it something clearly is happening." Cole spoke with a serious expression.

He knew that Kai doesn't open up to anyone at all but he was still hoping it might happen today. But instead of an lovely conversation Cole got the dirtiest look from Kai he has ever seen. „What are trying to point out with that statement of yours? That I'm weak? You want to prove to me that you're stronger? Well guess what Cole you're frail. You might look like a big bulky strong guy but you. are. fragile." Kai spat out with utter hatred which made Cole look in disbelief. „And what's with that manner? You couldn't even knock before entering and now you're making fun of me? This shows how you truly were raised." Now Kai has crossed the line.

Without a warning Kai was pinned down on the bed. His hands held on both sides of his head making an escape not possible. „Swear at me as much as you want but DO NOT get my parents involved. And just for the record I knocked. I knocked for half a minute but you didn't answer so I entered because I am a damn friend of yours who cares about you! I don't understand how dumb you can be sometimes. Why the hell do you think I came to your room just to poke fun of you and harass you. That doesn't make sense. Stop assuming things that aren't true. It's not weird to want to look after you Kai. Just like how you look after the others they will look after you...but you'll have to let them..." Cole paused.

„You have to let me...please Kai. I can't watch you suffer like that anymore. Talk to me." His eyes softened and showed the hidden pain Cole was feeling all this time. Kai not trusting him made him feel hurt. Was he this unreliable?

With a push Cole was now on the ground. He groaned from the fall and stroked his back in pain. „Seriously?!" Cole shot out with his eyes closed and still rubbing his back. „You can't just-.
" Cole stopped when he opened his eyes. In front of him was a boy all red with his hand slightly covering his mouth. His eyes couldn't focus and he had an innocent and desperate look on his face.

„Shit" Kai whimpered and finally looked at Cole. „Just get out of my room... and that's for attacking me first. We're quit now." Kai ordered and went back under the sheets turning his back towards Cole. At that moment Cole didn't know what just happened. He was as red as Kai and his hair got all fluffy. „Did Kai just...blush because of me?" Cole laughed and held his hand over his face. „He's gonna be the death of me." with that Cole exited Kais room and went back to the dining room.

On the way he met Nya. „And? How is he?" Nya asked scared for her brother. Cole reassured her that he's fine and that she shouldn't worry so much. This made Nya a bit more relaxed and she thanked Cole for looking after Kai. They then returned together to continue the party.
