Cold Winter (Cole x Kai)

Wrong Solution

It was quiet except for that ticking noise that felt like a hammer hitting his head. Kai frowned and slowly opened his eyes. It took a while until his eyes were adjusted to the darkness. His head was a mess and he couldn't think straight at all.

All he knew was that he felt uncomfortable. His throat hurt and his arms were sore making him groan in pain with every move he made. And this ticking noise was so loud that his eardrums felt as if they were about to burst.

„Shut up..." Kai groaned and turned to the side while covering his ears with his hands. But the sound didn't stop making the fire boy yell in anger. „I SAID SHUT UP!" And with that Kai set the clock that was facing him on fire making it turn into ashes. Kais heart was racing and he just wanted to destroy everything around him.

Upon further observation Kai was now aware in whose room he was. In disgust he jumped out of the bed almost tilting over by doing so. His eyes couldn't focus and he had a hard time keeping the balance but he had to get out of here.

Before he could take a step the door creaked open and an all to familiar face walked in. The person who came to be Cole noticed Kai awake and standing. His eyes widened in shock and he froze up by the sight. Cole felt his chest tighten as he looked at the awakened Kai.

Kai on the other hand wasn't too happy to see the earth boy. Looking at him made him even angrier than he already was. Cole could see Kais expression change from a bit serious too very angry. But he couldn't care less since he was the happiest ninja at that moment.

„Kai..." Cole whispered in relief and had a small smile. „What do you want?" Kai asked with a despised tone. Cole really didn't mind Kai being mean to him. At that moment he was just happy.

Cole who was half in his dream world and looking at Kai affectionately soon realised how Kai wasn't resting in the bed even though he is injured. „Why don't you lie down? You must feel exhausted." Cole suggested calmly and went over to the bed to remove the sheets. Kai just glared at him before walking off to get out of the room.

Even though he gave his best not to trip over Kai suddenly felt dizzy and lost his balance leading to him falling down. Cole walked over to him and reached his hand to help the fire boy up. „Maybe after resting a bit you could try that again?" Cole said with a smirk and waited for Kai to take his hand. But Kai only looked away while staying on the ground still with an angry expression.

He couldn't walk out the room but he also wouldn't want Cole to help him so he just stayed on the ground on all fours. The last thing he needed was taking Coles helping hand so that Cole can rub it into his face after.

Kais pride was on the line and Cole knew that. Once you get to know Kai he is too easy to read is what Cole believes. But in reality it is only he who can understand the complexity of the fire bender. Cole didn't wait anymore and went to grab Kai to get him to bed but as soon as he touched the other boy he got pushed away.

„DON'T TOUCH ME YOU STONER." Kai spat out and glared at Cole who didn't seem fazed by it. Cole went for second try this time with determination. He held onto Kai who tried to push him off but Cole had a strong grip making it not possible to get away from him. Cole then lifted him up and carried him like a princess to bed and plopped him there. He put the sheets over him and sat next to him. Kai stopped resisting and just layed there knowing he didn't have a chance against the strongest ninja.

Cole kept looking at Kai for a bit longer. First with joy and happiness but the smile he had on his face and his enthusiastic expression slowly faded leaving him with a depressed look. Kai who was still frowning noticed the sudden change but acted unbothered by it. In reality he was very much bothered by it. He can't bear seeing Cole sad like that. He'd rather have him angry so he won't feel bad for him.

He felt a touch on his hand and looking down to see what it was Kai saw Cole placing his hand over his. Kai was going to yell at him. How can Cole act so cold towards him and then expect him to be fine with this is what went through Kais head.

But he couldn't bring himself to act out at that moment. All he could do was look at the earth boy whose expression was broken and whose eyes were pitiful to look at, glassy from the warm tears that flowed down his face uncontrollably. „Nice going Kai. You made a fucking grown man cry. You deserve a medal for that." Kai thought wanting to hit himself.

„You know that time were we fought against the snakes and the great devourer?" Cole started to talk with his teary eyes directed towards Kai. „This is the time were I started to notice that my feelings for you were deeper than I had thought." Kai looked at the talking earth boy with a curious look. „I've always liked you Kai but it took me a long time to accept those feelings. I was in denial..I was scared. I have never felt like this before and it was all so confusing to me." Cole stopped and wiped his tears away then looked at Kai again with a determined expression making Kai flinch a bit.

„Now I have come to terms with my feelings and I won't shy away from them anymore. Kai I love you and I know you love me too. So lets not make it too complicate-" Cole was interrupted by someone shouting Kais name.

Lloyd rushed over to Kai and wanted to jump on him. Before he went for it he remembered the injuries Kai had and could stop himself in time. „I knew you'd awaken today! I could feel it." Lloyd described his emotions with big hand gestures which made Kai chuckle.

Kai didn't feel so bad anymore and felt a bit relaxed again. He still didn't understand why he'd have random outbursts and then a second later he'd feel fine again.

After a while everyone was gathered in Garmadons room to see how Kai was doing. Even Garmadon who seemed unpleased by Kai burning his antique clock down was there.
Everyone was relieved to see Kai awake and slightly healthy again.
