When the doctor arrived, he removed the remaining thorns, cleaned them and he told her.
-Try not to get the wounds wet, your feet are in worse condition, try not to get out of bed until they are better.
-Thank you doctor, I will keep that in mind.
-I will tell the maids to change the dressing and check the wounds regularly so they don't get infected.
Rebecca knew that even if she told the maids to change her dressing and check her wounds they wouldn't do it.
-Doctor, could you leave the bandages on? I'll change them myself, I don't like other people touching me.
-I still think it would be better if a maid did it.
-Please, doctor.
The doctor, seeing the princess's pleading eyes, agreed to her wishes and gave her several bandages and some ointments for the wounds. He handed her several bandages and some ointments for the wounds.
-Try to check the wounds that you can see, if it is all right with you I will come in a few days to see how you are doing and make sure that the wounds have not become infected.
-Thank you very much, I will be eternally grateful if you do that.
That doctor was old and kind, he knew that there was something hidden in all that, it was impossible that the princess was bothered by others touching her body, since she had not flinched when he had touched her, there was a hidden story behind all that but he did not want to insist that she tell him.
After the doctor left, the king sent for him, he did not ask how the princess was, he just made him stand for a good while, the doctor began to speak without being asked.
-Luckily the princess's wounds are not so serious as to leave scars, however, she must be especially careful with the wounds on her feet, the thorns stuck deeper as she walked while she had the thorns in her feet.
Setherian listened to everything without asking questions, then the doctor left but returned a few days later to visit Rebecca, her wounds were almost healed, only the ones that had been deeper were still not fully healed.
During a meeting Sarah's father, Duke Nicolas Alessandrelli, was furious about the alleged attack his daughter had suffered from the princess, he demanded that the princess be punished. After so much insistence Setherian decided to give Rebecca a punishment.
The meeting ended shortly after, Setherian was tired, he didn't feel like arguing with the nobles anymore, almost the whole kingdom hated the Quin, he knew that this incident was just an excuse to give the princess a hard time, Setherian had thought that her getting hurt for her misdeeds was more than enough punishment, however the nobles didn't consider it the same.
Setherian leaned back in his chair, sighed heavily and thought about giving the princess a punishment that was neither too severe nor too soft so that the nobles would not continue to bother him.
After a few days, when the doctor said the princess was fully recovered he went to visit her in her room, she was standing by the window looking at the garden with her bare feet, Setherian considered her an extravagant princess who liked to go without shoes and in light clothes as her dress was short and showed more than it should, he cleared his throat and said.
-Princess.
Rebecca turned around as she heard a male voice behind her, seeing the king she wondered what he was doing in her room as he always showed his hatred when he saw her. With an annoyed face the king continued saying.
-I see that you are already feeling better, because of your bad behavior you will receive a proper punishment, you will be moved to a remote part of the castle for a few days, you will not have servants at your service and you will have to manage as you can, maybe this way you will value the work of the servants and meditate on your behavior.
Rebecca sighed, the king was doing the same as her father, leaving her in oblivion in a corner of the palace, she only hoped that place was not in ruins.
-Will I be entitled to at least two meals a day?
That question made Setherian upset, he was punishing her not starving her.
-Of course, we're not going to starve you, even if you don't have the privilege of servitude for the rest of the chores you'll have all your meals as usual, they'll go and bring it to you.
If she was going to have her three meals, Rebecca didn't care about the rest and obediently accepted a punishment she didn't deserve.
That same afternoon she was taken to the farthest part of the castle, they took her to a small house that must have been used by the gardener at some point, it was small and cozy, although it was supposed to be a punishment Rebecca felt it was a reward for her, she would no longer have to live locked up in a room, she would have a small house with a yard.
Rebecca tried to put on a sad expression because if the maids saw that she was happy they would want to bother her again. The maids handed her a basket of fruits and vegetables and told her.
-This place is too secluded, the princess will have to prepare her own meals as we won't be able to come all the way here to deliver it, we are too busy for that, besides her majesty said this was her punishment.
Rebecca knew the maids were lying, they just didn't want to take care of her anymore and thought this was a good opportunity to do so. Although at least they had given her the ingredients to make her meals, that was a relief for Rebecca, she took the basket with the vegetables and fruits and went into the house, the maids left immediately.
That house was small but it was very well kept, there was also a fireplace so when winter came she would not die of cold if she collected firewood before, Rebecca smiled broadly, what was supposed to be a punishment she saw it as a blessing, there was no one there to watch her, nor to prevent her from leaving her room, although she should try not to go near the palace because if the servants saw her they might want to get her in trouble.
Rebecca breathed a sigh of relief, for the first time in a long time it seemed that luck was smiling on her.
-In the end I came out winning with all this, that woman wanted to see me suffer, however, she doesn't know that she ended up doing me a favor, I hope she stays healthy and has a good life.
