Setherian was sitting in his office reviewing documents when his assistant Adam Pearce touched the door with his knots and soon after entered the office.
-I'm sorry to interrupt, Your Majesty, but there's something I'd like to talk to you about.
Setherian continued to work and told him.
- Talk. There is a topic in the court that has always been discussed lately.
- What topic?
-The fact that His Majesty has been married for four years and still has no heir.
Setherian left what he was doing and looked at his assistant as if he wanted to fulminate him with the look, but he did not intimidate Adam, he was already accustomed to receiving that kind of treatment so he continued speaking.
-Her Majesty may not be aware of the fact that there must be a successor, even if she does not like the idea, she must have a child.
- That's my problem.
-Please, Your Majesty, be aware that it is your duty to the kingdom, there must be a successor to the throne, otherwise the legacy of the royal family will disappear.
-One day I'll have a child, but that's not important now.
-Your Majesty will be 24 this year, how much longer do you plan to wait?
Setherian's gaze became severe, Adam felt that at any moment he would lose his life, however, he could not remain silent.
-I remind you that children are slow to grow, they must also be instructed from an early age, Your Majesty cannot continue to delay the inevitable.
Setherian squeezed his hand on a fist, his wife was the daughter of his worst enemy, a man who had killed almost his entire family, the only idea that his son would carry his blood repudiated him, Adam was aware of that and told him.
-I know it's not an easy thing for your majesty, your wife is the daughter of that man, so you should get a concubine.
-You know that this is not possible, that the heir prince is the son of a concubine is not something that is well seen.
-Your Majesty, then why don't you kill that woman and get married again?
Setherian laughed bitterly and said to him.
-His death would give a motive to King Quin to start the war again, I will not put my kingdom in danger only for my selfishness, even if the only idea of being with that woman repudiates me, I have no other choice.
Roman had gone to visit Rebecca, and when he arrived he was very surprised to see that he was grinding the ground.
-What are you doing?- He asked him.
-The spring has already begun. I must start cultivating my garden.
-You're a princess, how can you do something like that?I've been doing it for three years, although at first it cost me a lot, now it's easy for me and as I told you before, I'm just a princess of name, I have never been treated as such, if I don't grow my own food I'll starve.
-How can you say such a thing? You make it sound like no one's taking care of you.
-After coming almost every day you didn't even realize, since I came here there has been nobody to take care of me, they left me to my luck for almost three years, for a few months the butler has come to bring me food from time to time, if I had not done this a long time ago I would have died of hunger and if I'm honest with you is the only death that I do not want - said Rebecca as she continued to grind the land.
Roman did not know what to answer, that day he returned early to the palace, went to his brother's office, poked his head through the door and said to him.
- Brother, I can pass.
Romano entered and sat in the chair in front of him.
- I'm sorry to interrupt your work.
-Don't worry, I was gonna take a little lunch break, you want to come with me?
-Yes.
Setherian and Romano went to the dining room, in a few minutes the servants served a great banquet for them two, seeing all the food that had been served Romano recalled that Rebecca had never had a meal like that since she was going to visit her every day, she made her own meals which were simple. Setherian, seeing that his brother had not tasted the food, asked him.
-Are you all right, Roman?
- Yes, Seth.
-It doesn't look like it, you haven't tasted your food.
- Brother, there's something I'd like to ask you.
-Ask what you want, Roman.
-Do you know what kind of magic Princess Rebecca has?
-No, I have spoken very little to her, and I have never asked her, why?
-King Quin has a great magical power. I was curious to know what kind of magic the princess has.
Setherian had never thought of that since the princess passed unnoticed, but if she had the same magic as King Quin she could end the royal palace, she could be his perfect weapon to end the kingdom from his gut.
I hadn't thought about it, but now I realize that I have been too careless, and I will have to deal with it.
- Seth, what are you gonna do?
-First I will make sure of what kind of magic it possesses, I will take it to the temple to check it out, and then I will decide what to do.
-I'd like to be able to accompany you.
-There are many steps in the temple, that's not good for your leg, it's better you don't go.
-No, Seth, I want to go with you, please let me go.
That was the first time that Romano was going to leave the palace since his leg failed him, he had always hated others to see him limping and so he was always in his room or in the library, Setherian could not refuse his request.
- All right, you can come with me.
-Thank you, brother.
No, I am the one who should thank you for showing me that I was being careless.
Roman knew that the princess was not dangerous, however, he wanted to know what kind of magic Rebecca possessed, for thanks to her he had improved much and his leg had ceased to fail to him, although that improvement was not lasting; Romano had noticed that if he stopped visiting her, the pain in her leg intensified so that it was unbearable and that the closer he was to her the more quickly the pain disappeared. She had turned her medicine and wanted to know what was the reason, he would not rest until finding out.
