Rebecca didn't know how she had gotten to the balcony, she had fallen asleep and didn't remember getting up, Setherian carried her in his arms and said.
-You must go back to bed.
-I really don't know how I got to the balcony.
-It's all right, I believe you.
Setherian laid her gently on the bed and said.
-Are you all right? Does your wound hurt?
-A little, but I'm fine.
-Go back to sleep.
Setherian took off his jacket, loosened his shirt, took off his shoes and then lay down next to Rebecca, she stared at him, he asked.
-Why don't you sleep?
-I'm not sleepy- she answered.
-Well, I am, so close your eyes and go to sleep, I can't fall asleep until you do.
-Maybe I should be in another room.
-What?- Setherian asked in surprise.
-I was sharing a room with his majesty to give him an heir, but in my state that's impossible, I'm just a nuisance for his majesty.
-No- Setherian said flatly.
-Why not?
-Because I don't want you away from me.
-I don't understand, why would his majesty want me around if he hates me?
-I don't hate you, at least not now, so stop this silly idea of wanting to go to another room.
-What's changed? Why doesn't his majesty hate me anymore?
-I don't know, I don't hate you anymore, don't you like that?
-It's not that, it just seems strange to me, no one has ever cared about me, I can't get used to her majesty being so kind and caring so much about me.
Setherian wondered what kind of life Rebecca had lived in Baldoyle's kingdom, he asked her.
-What was your life like in Baldoyle's kingdom?
-Hum...Lonely, I was never someone they wanted, I don't even remember anyone being kind to me there.
-Your mother wasn't kind to you either?
-My mother died giving birth to me, I never knew her, I don't know much about her either, only what the maids said when they were upset.
-What did they say to you?
-They would tell me why I didn't die with my mother, that I shouldn't have been born, when I was little I was very sickly, they hated having to take care of me, to everyone I was just someone annoying who shouldn't have survived, I don't even know how I'm still alive since they always neglected me.
Remembering what her life had been like in Baldoyle's kingdom, Rebecca frowned and said.
-When that maid attacked me I thought I would die, I thought I would never open my eyes again and at that very moment I realized that I have never been happy, that there has never been anyone to love me.
Setherian stared at her and asked.
-Do you want me to love you?
-I have never expected love from his majesty, I wondered if when I have a child he will love me.
-You will be his mother, I'm sure he will love you and I think I will too.
Rebecca opened her eyes like saucers and wondered if she had misheard, she cleaned her ears and said.
-Maybe I should sleep, I think I'm hearing things.
Setherian stroked her cheek and said.
-Do you not want me to love you?
-Why would your majesty love me?
-Do I need a reason to do so?
-I don't know.
Setherian moved a little closer to Rebecca, gave her a soft kiss on the lips, embraced her and said.
-You don't need any reason to love, it just happens, you fall in love without thinking about it, without planning it, without you realizing it, when I saw you were about to die I was afraid, I didn't want to lose you, I'm sorry if that's upsetting for you, but I want to keep you close to me and make sure you're okay.
Rebecca didn't know what to think of what the king was telling her, so she simply remained silent wondering if the king's words were true.
The next day Setherian sent for Fergal, when he arrived he told her.
-Yesterday something strange happened with the princess.
-What?- Fergal asked curiously.
-She was on the balcony.
-That means she's feeling better now, doesn't it?
-She was asleep, he didn't know how she got to the balcony.
-Maybe she walks in her sleep, I've heard that some people do it.
-I don't know, I felt something strange when I saw her on the balcony, it was as if she was someone else.
-She was asleep, it's natural that I didn't act the same way she always does.
-I guess you're right, how is it going with what I asked you?
-It's only been a day, you can't expect me to have found a miracle medicine that will heal the wounds, especially since I can't use magic since the princess nullifies all magic.
-Well, get to it.
-Yes, I'll go back to the wizards' tower right now and get to it.
As Fergal approached the door Setherian said to him.
-I have told the princess that I could love her.
-So you will do as I suggested, you are going to make the princess fall in love with you.
-Her magic is dangerous, the best thing to do is to get her on our side and I think that's the best way to do it.
-Love is more effective than fear, for love a person can fight even to death.
-I have received a report from the shadows, apparently King Quin is preparing for a war.
-Do you think he will break your treaty?
-I don't know, I only know that she can mean our victory or our defeat if the war starts again.
-I just hope King Quin doesn't start the war before the princess learns to handle her powers, that would be a real problem.
-I know, that's why I want her to recover quickly so she can continue learning magic, so she can control it.
-By the way, do you already know how to make the princess fall in love with you?
-What?
-Don't tell me you don't have a plan?
-Well, I haven't thought of that yet.
-I advise you to start thinking about it, for a woman to fall in love with a man she needs to feel that she is special to him, you must show your feelings for her, well in your case there are no feelings so you will have to try even harder.
Setherian was not very good with women as since he was very young it had always been women who made an effort to please him, he had never had the need to make an effort with any woman, actually he did not know very well what to do to make the princess fall in love with him, but he did not want to admit that in front of Fergal.
