Describe yourself they told me
Ok here goes everything
She was a wreck,
Emotionally
Physically and mentally,
She tried but always failed everyone
Around her and she
Hated herself for it
She was irreparably broken
She hated everything about herselfHer smile
Her laugh
She hated her body, every piece of it
She hated her eyes
Her hair
Her personality
She thought she was annoying
Saw herself as not worth it
She imagined everyone in her life
Leaving her
And told herself
That she deserved itShe looked in the mirror
Every day
And every day she cried
At the face looking back at her
She compared herself to a monster
Not worthy of love
Unable to love others
Hideous and monstrous
Were the words she adorned herself with
She said it made it easier to bearShe lied
She hated who she was
She hated her core
And she could blame it on others
But she knew it was from her
She was unable to see
Her "true beauty" as others put it
She couldn't see past the scars
She couldn't see past the lines and bruises
She couldn't see past the trauma
Past the hurt in her eyesOthers saw mirth and happiness
She saw fear and betrayal and hate
Others saw love and peace and light
She saw cowardice and death and darkShe looked in the mirror
And saw the monster she ran from
Each and every day
