Okay, so I love this book called Paper Towns by John Green (I really recommend y'all read it) and so I had the most random idea to write a one-shot based on it so here you go.

For those who have never read the book, there will be kind of spoilers because I'm basing the last couple chapters on it, but basically the main character (who's a girl and in this case is going to be Annabeth) disappears after a night of pranking a bunch of her ex-friends. Her childhood friend (who's the guy and will be Percy) has been in love with her since they were kids and is devoted to trying and finding her and goes all over the East Coast trying to find her.

In the book, they live in Florida and the guy goes off to find her in New York so I'm going to play off of that. Also, they're don't half-bloods and they just live as normal teenagers.

All rights to both Paper Towns and Percy Jackson go to John Green and Rick Riordan.

I hope you enjoy (and that this makes sense lol)

Annabeth was obsessed with mysteries. So much, that she decided to become one.

It had been almost a full month since she disappeared off the face of the earth. And I was determined to find her. Grover and Jason kept telling me that she wanted to be gone, and that probably wasn't going to come back, but I didn't care.

I needed to find her.

She told something the night before she disappeared. She asked me to join her in pranking her ex-boyfriend, Luke Castellan after he cheated on her with one of her friends, Thalia Grace. She also went after friend Piper Mclean for not telling her about it. Annabeth was certain that she was going to get the final laugh. And the best part? She did. Because she disappeared without a trace.

Annabeth always left clues on how to find her. When she ran away a few years ago she left the letters 'M, I, S, S' in her alphabet soap to say that she was going to Mississippi. And now, she left hidden clues of paper towns everywhere.

Oh, the thing she told me the night she disappeared.

She told me that Jefferson Heights was a Paper Town. A town that would leave you trapped there forever. She said that when you're in a paper town, you never get to leave.

Maybe that's why she left.

After looking for days, I thought about giving up. About taking my friends advice and leaving it alone and enjoying the fact that I was about to graduate. But then I noticed something.

Annabeth always left clues. She left things for me all over. It started with a note in my door, then a poster. But as I was scrolling through Wikipedia, each one of the clues leading me to some sort of place that Annabeth could have been. She was obsessed with paper towns (paper towns are made up towns that map makers put on their maps to make sure nothing was copy-righted), so of course, now I was too. I was scrolling through the website; I came across a paper town that I hadn't searched yet.

Agloe, New York. A place far away from here. But something else caught my eye. Most paper towns don't have a population count, since they don't exist. But this one did. I read it, a caption that said, 'population Count one As of may 3rd,'

The capitalization was what made me know it was Annabeth. One of the things I loved about Annabeth was the way she wrote things. She always had weird capitalization. I knew it was her. Who else would it have been? I had my answer. Agloe. Suddenly, my phone rang, which was the only thing that was going to draw me away from my search for Annabeth. The caller ID read Grover Underwood. My best friend since the third grade, so of course I had to answer it. "What's up?"
