Jason's POV

He just didn't get it. How were they so good together? They seemed to be complete polar opposites and yet just the same. It just didn't make sense to him. He would watch Percy and Annabeth laugh together over the stupidest things like the Consenus Song (people who have seen the TV show know exactly what this is) or argue like an old married couple.

It didn't make sense.

But yet again, neither of them made sense.

Now don't get him wrong, he loved what he had with Piper, but they were not even close to what Percy and Annabeth were, or like what Piper called them 'Percabeth' or whatever. Jason adored Piper and was so grateful to have someone like her in his life, but He didn't know how Percy did it.

With one look, Percy could see if something was wrong with Annabeth. And Percy could be pretty oblivious. He could read her like an open book, in a way Jason never could for Piper. Percy would wrap an arm around Annabeth, kiss her forehead sweetly, and hold her close to his side as she was reading or while they were just sitting eating dinner at night.

The two had LOTS of inside jokes in between them and would always share looks before laughing nonstop about them. Percy also had the habit and picked Annabeth up or grabbing her book from her- which would always end up in a war around the Argo Two.

And if Annabeth was sad, Percy knew exactly how to comfort her. Apparently, Jason didn't know how to comfort Piper very well, especially after she told him that she was upset, and he didn't even notice it.

Jason couldn't help but feel a little bit jealous over it. He knew it was wrong and that he should be happy for Percy and Annabeth, but he wanted with Piper what they had. And so of course, while they were in the Mess Hall, awaiting yet another quest on their to-do list, Jason couldn't help but see Percy and Annabeth look as content as they were.

For their first few days back from Tartarus, they were quiet. The two spent most of their time together, not leaving each other's sides very much. Now they had been back for about two or so weeks now, the two were getting back to their normal selves again. Percy was cracking jokes while Annabeth was whacking his shoulder, the two were sparring with Jason and Piper and Annabeth was even working on blueprints. They seemed fine.

But Jason could tell they were far from it.

While in the Mess Hall, Jason saw Percy and Annabeth sitting on the couch that was pushed into the back corner of the room (per Annabeth's request) Jason was sitting across the room at the table playing UNO with Leo, Piper, Hazel, and Reyna, while Frank and Nico were playing (more like Nico lecturing) Mythomagic on the ground.

Annabeth was reading a book, no surprise there, while Percy was sitting beside her, leaning his head against her shoulder. His eyes were closed, but Jason could tell he wasn't sleeping, mainly because he kept moving and loving at Annabeth. "Jason." A voice said. "Jason! You good?" Piper asked, waving her hand in front of his face.

Jason had to blink a few times before realizing that it was his turn and noticed that the new card was a blue three, meaning he had to pull more cards. While doing so, he saw Percy sit up and stretch, and Annabeth smile. He placed his new blue card down, and continued to not watch them, reminding himself to pay attention.

But that's the fun thing about people watching. You can do it whenever.

Glancing over at them, he saw Annabeth put her book down on the couch and turn to face him, sitting criss cross. Percy faced her, offering his hands to her, which she took. They seemed to go into a deep conversation, one that Jason couldn't listen to, but he noticed something.

He saw how intentional the two of them were being.

He watched as Percy listened to Annabeth, who seemed to be deep in thought and looking like she was about to cry, and then watched as Percy held her close, rubbing her back and talking to her. If there was one thing Jason knew about them, it was that they could get through anything as long as they had each other.

It took about six more turns and two fake UNOs before they pulled away, Annabeth wiping her eyes and smiling at Percy lovingly. "You seem distracted there, Jace," Piper joked, nudging him. According to her, the game had ended, meaning that everyone went their own ways. Piper and Jason were left sitting at the table, and Percy and Annabeth got up to leave, going out to the docks outside. "Penny for your thoughts?" Piper asked as she picked up the last of the cards.

"Uh, I love you?" Jason stammered. Piper laughed, messing with his hair before sitting down next to him and grabbing his hand. "Sorry, I was-um." He rubbed the back of his neck.

"Watching Percy and Annabeth?" She spoke. Jason felt his face turning as red as a tomato, and he looked down, hoping she didn't notice. "It's not a bad thing. They're really something, you know?"

Looking back up at her, she gave him a smile, kissing his cheek sweetly. "Yeah. I guess so. I just- I don't get how he does it."

Piper gave him a confused look. "How who does it?"

"How he understands her so well." Jason said, leaning back in his chair. "He can see everything she's thinking and can comfort her and make her feel better no matter what. It's just impressive I guess." He explained.

"Well, they have known each other for four plus years." Piper reasoned. That's it! They've known each other for such a long time! They were best of friends long before they started dating. It all made sense now. Percy knew everything about Annabeth (and vice versa) because they had been friends for so long.

Okay, well maybe that's not the only thing. But it was definitely a contributing factor. They had been through it all together, especially now after Tartarus. They were like each other's other half. Jason had only known Piper for a few months (not counting the times he was brainwashed) and Piper and him still had a long way to go before even being remotely as close as Percy and Annabeth were. They were just different. But a good different. Jason saw Piper looking at him, and smiled, "You know, I think you're right."

Piper laughed, squeezing his hand. "I think sometimes, we all could use a brand-new perspective," Piper said as she stood up from the table and motioned for him to come with him. Jason knew she was right. Piper was always right.

Perspective is a funny thing sometimes. And Jason definitely needed something new every once in a while.

and there it is! I've had this idea for a long time and its loosely based off of a fanfiction I read like months ago.

If you guys want a part two or have any requests, let me know! I would love some feedback or some recommendations. Other than that, thank you so much for reading!
