Rain pattered onto the dark road, washing down hard on the windshield of Percy's blue 2009 Toyota Pick-Up. He was finally, after six, long months, he was going home to his family, hoping that Annabeth didn't want to murder him. He felt terrible. Percy knew how much he hurt Annabeth, and he wanted to do whatever if he could do to bring her back to him, back into his arms, his embrace, his love.
All Percy wanted was to protect her and keep her safe; to love her. And knowing Annabeth, she probably wanted it too, even if she wouldn't admit it. He pulled up to their house, where he pretty admitted the that Annabeth and Sophia Grace are probably asleep. He hopped out of the car and ran towards the door, running out of the pouring rain that towered down on him.
He unlocked the front door, kicking off his shoes and placing his suitcase in the corner, only looking up to see an angry, pregnant, Annabeth staring him down. "Um, hi?"
"What are you doing here? You're not allowed-"
"You're pregnant? With who?" Percy asked, scared to death that she was with someone else.
"You, Percy. And like I was saying, you are not allowed here. You left six months and abandoned Sophia Grace and me, so no, get out. Now!"
Percy felt his anger rising in him, but he knew to not pick a fight with a pregnant woman, so he cooled his temper. He sighed. "Okay, first of all, you can't kick me out. We bought this apartment under both of our names. Second, what's going on? How long have you been pregnant?"
"Whatever! You know what, whatever. You can sleep in MY room so that Sophia Grace doesn't ask any questions, but otherwise, you can stay only because this place is under both our names. And I'm six months pregnant with a boy. And I don't care about what you think, because you left, and right now, I'm planning to only put him under my name!" Annabeth stormed off into their, her bedroom and shut the door quickly.
Percy sighed, again. He picked up his suitcase and slowly made his way to the back bedroom, where he walked into Annabeth sobbing uncontrollably. She saw him and brushed away her tears before picking up a book and shoving her nose into it. He walked into the bedroom and turned on the shower. At least she's wearing her wedding ring still. He thought to himself and smiled. I'm going to save this marriage, and get Annabeth back, even if it's the last thing I do.
He quickly washed off and walked back into the master bedroom, were Annabeth was already lying on her side, her eyes shut tightly and her entire body shaking. Percy slipped under the covers and wrapped his arms around Annabeth, who calmed down and moved into his embrace. "I'm cold," She mumbled.
"Don't worry, Wise Girl. I'll keep you warm." Percy kissed her forehead and rested his hand on her swollen belly where his son was, and smiled. "Hey, Annabeth?" She hummed in reply. "What's your last name?"
"Jackson," Annabeth muttered as she snuggled closer to his chest and rest there, her back to him and her arms around her pillow and stomach. Percy sighed in content, she hadn't changed her name, and she didn't seem to hate him she acted she did. He slowly fell asleep, his heart was beating rapidly knowing that his Wise Girl was still there and that he actually had a chance to save his family.------------------------------------------------------
Annabeth woke up to a weight holding her down. The one thing she knew for certain was that it wasn't bad, it was protectiveness, that she felt safe in his arms. Percy's arms. After six months of no sleep, she had the most rest knowing that Percy was home, even though she wouldn't admit it. "Percy. Percy, wake up!" Annabeth shook Percy awake.
"Huh? What? I'm awake."
"You kinda have your arms around me, and I can't breathe," Annabeth chuckled.
"Awe, crap! Sorry Wise Girl," Percy pulled away and sat up, rubbing his eyes.
Annabeth smiled. "It's okay. Do you want to wake up your daughter?"
Percy's eyes brightened. "Really? You'd let me?"
"Of course," Annabeth smiled as Percy jumped out of bed and raced to the door. "Oh, and by the way, that's for keeping your name,"
"My name's always been Annabeth, Percy,"
"I meant your last name," Percy said.
"What?"
"What's your last name?"
"Jackson," Then it hit her. Percy wined and practically skipped out the door, leaving Annabeth to realize what she had said, which made her angry.
"Sophie? Wake up, Baby Girl," Percy said as he sat next to his daughter's bed and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Go away, Mommy. I don't wanna get up," Sophia Grace pushed Percy's hand away.
"If I was your Mom, that would be really weird," Percy laughed.
"Daddy! You're home!" Sophia Grace cried as she lept into Percy's arms. "I missed you, Daddy,"
"I missed you too. And I promised that I would come back, and I didn't intend to break that promise," Percy brought his daughter close, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
He heard a bitter voice comment in the background. "Well, you break a promise already away," He sighed.
"Hey, Sophie? How about you go take a shower and get ready so that we can go to the beach later?" Sophia Grace nodded and jumped out of bed and ran to her bathroom. Percy got up and walked out to the living room and saw his wife crying softly on the couch. "What's going on?" He questioned.
"You! You're the problem. You left and I- I couldn't do it! I couldn't! I needed you, and you broke a promise to me, one that brought us together, that married us! It's like you're not here anymore, and I can't stand it! You abandoned us! Your own daughter asked every day when you were going to be home, and all I could tell her was last night's date, and hope that you were going to be home! Do you want to know how hard that is!"
"Why are you accusing me? You know I love my daughter!" Percy yelled.
"Don't even start, Percy! These last six months have been the hardest six months of my entire life! And I do not want to relive it again! When I found out was pregnant, I told Rachael and Piper and Hazel when you should've known first. Rachael was at the ultrasound when I found out I was having a boy when you should have been there! When I was having problems with my pregnancy, Nico and Will were the ones who took me to the hospital
and Nico was the one who was holding my hand! That should've been you, Percy!" Tears streamed down Annabeth's face as she yelled at him.
"Then maybe we should just divorce!" Percy clutched his fists together, only realizing what he just said. He felt horrible, and before he could say anything else, Annabeth strode over to him and slapped him, hard, across the face.
"How dare you! This marriage is already falling apart and you say that! I didn't give up my wedding ring or change my name to have you say something like that to me! I thought you loved me!" Annabeth cried as she fell to her knees and sobbed harder. Percy dropped next to her and enveloped her in his arms, bringing her close to his chest where she sobbed into his shoulder.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry! I love you, Annabeth. I love you more than anything, I really do! I need you, and I could never have you leave! And I know I've hurt you, but I promise to be there for you, be by your side! I'll never you again! And that's a promise I am willing on making!" He felt his own tears streaming down his face. "I'm so sorry" He repeated into her ear.
"Don't be," Annabeth sniffled. "Don't be sorry. It isn't your fault, you were just trying to help someone who needed it. And I was just being so possessive and wanting and selfish. I need you, and I will never admit it, but the last six months, I've never been able to live with myself after what I said to you,"
Percy pulled Annabeth up to her feet, and walked her to their bedroom, and sat with her on their bed. He pulled a piece of stray of her blonde hair out of her eyes. He kissed her forehead, then around her face before stopping at her lips. "May I?" He looked her dead in the eye. She crashed her lips against his, pulling him towards her, and after six months, her heart was finally filled. She felt safe and protected. She needed Percy as he needed her.
"I love you, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth said as she rested on Percy's chest.
"I love you too, Wise Girl," Percy mumbled in her ear as he held her close, not wanting to ever lose, or almost lose Annabeth again. And he knew that they were unbreakable, no matter what was thrown their way, they would always be together. An oath kept till the final breath.
