After Luke was born, Percy became very protective of his family. It wasn't like he didn't before, but after the events with the Army and Luke's birth, he turned himself into an extra devoted father and husband, making sure his family knew he cared.
It was a cold and windy night as the Jacksons were driving of Montauk for a family vacation, Percy had been driving for about six hours. "You know I can drive, right?" Annabeth smirked as she looked up from her book and eyes glared at Percy, who seemed to be very constricted.
"Oh don't worry. You just get some sleep, we'll be there in an hour, and it's pretty late and we've been nonstop all day."
"So have you, and you deserve sleep Percy, you really do. And you've driven forever," Annabeth placed her hand on Percy's shoulder and kissed his cheek before leaning her head against him. He smiled.
"I love you, Wise Girl," he murmured.
"Love you too, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth watched as the night stars sparkled over their car. "Percy, look," She pointed out at the constellation of a huntress above. Her bow was strapped over her back and the stars around it glistened brightly over the world ahead.
"You remember that?" Percy looked at his wife, who nodded. "Where I rescued you from Atlas and held up the entire world on our shoulders,"
"Don't remind me of that part," Annabeth smirked. "But yes, you traveled across the country to save me, I remember. And Thaila made a huge ordeal about it."
"But that's my job. I will always protect you, no matter what," Percy beamed as he spoke, showing off his goofy and mischievous smile. "I'll protect you, and the kids. You guys mean a lot to me. And I need to make sure you guys are safe, that's my job. And I've been doing it for a while," That's when Annabeth smacked him. "Ow! Okay, Okay! But you know it's true,"
"I know, I know. But still, I'm pretty independent." She giggled as Percy rolled his eyes. "And please, get some sleep, I'll drive."
"As I said, I'm fine. Just relax. I'll do the work." And with that Annabeth dose off.

After another hour, they had finally made it to the cabin next to the beach. "We made it," Percy whispered as he hopped out of the car and swooped up Luke and Sophia Grace, taking them into the cabin and took them into the guest bedroom, tucking them into the blankets and putting on Ray Lynch for them to fall asleep too. Annabeth was next. Percy walked out to a slightly awake Annabeth.
"Hey Wise Girl." Percy reached out his hand for Annabeth, who took it and stepped out of the car. "Sleep okay?"
"Kinda. Are the kids already in bed?" Annabeth asked as she rubbed her tired eyes.
"Yep. And you go lay down, I'll get the stuff," Percy said as he kissed her forehead. "Let me help, Percy, I-" Percy picked her up bridal style and carried her to the master bedroom.
"Not letting you help. I got it. You need some sleep. You're always having to work, always so stressed. You do a lot so let me do something nice for you," Percy laid Annabeth down, who threw the covers other herself and snuggled into their bed. Smiling, Percy went back outside to collect their things before laying back down with Annabeth.
"You're amazing, you know that right?" Annabeth mumbled as she cuddled up to Percy and rested on his chest.
"Whatever you say, Annabeth. I'm just trying do you some favors causing you practically carry everyone's needs on your shoulders."
"You do a lot too," Annabeth smiled at her oblivious husband. "You take care of us. Of me. You're amazing and doing what you're doing right now is something that is a habit for you. You're kind, sweet, loving. And you're protective, maybe a little too overprotective. You make sure we feel safe, and you keep comfort her. That's what I love about you. You're perfect. I couldn't think of anyone better for me, for Sophia Grace and Luke. I love you,"
"I love you too, Annabeth. You know that I will always protect you and the kids right?"
"Of course I do," Annabeth snuggled into Percy and slowly fell into a peaceful sleep.

"Mommy! Daddy! Wake up! It's at 8 o'clock! It's time for breakfast!" Luke shouted as he jumped on his mother and father who were sleeping, until then.
"We're awake. I'm awake. Let's try to not wake up your mother," Percy kissed Annabeth's cheek and hopped out of bed and followed his son towards the living room. Annabeth laughed to herself and laughed at her husband, her Seaweed Brain's antics.
