when they first started dating cause why not

"Annnnnaaaabetthhhh." Percy whined, looking up at her, fake pouting.

Annabeth raised her book up and glanced down at him, "Yes, Seaweed Brain?"

"When are you going to stop reading? I'm bored." He said as he started to fidget with his hoodie strings. Annabeth rolled her eyes. The two of them were sitting outside at camp, under Thalia's tree right next to the border of camp. It was one of their favorite spots to hang out at, mainly because most people didn't want to trek up the hill to sit there.

She also suspected that the other campers knew it was 'their' spot. "You don't have to sit here, you know. You could go hang out with your friends." She replied, placing a hand in his curly hair that was always unkept. She was leaning up against the tree while Percy was resting on her lap, looking up at the sky.

"But I wanna hang out with you," he said. "They're boring."

"Uh huh. Whatever you say," She mumbled as she continued to read her book. Percy huffed, sitting up from his spot and holding his knees to his chest. She couldn't help but watch as he rocked back and forth for a moment, trilled his lips, looked up and down at the sky, played with the grass. All in about the same ninety seconds. Boy did this kid have ADHD. Annabeth rolled her eyes, bookmarking her book and faced him, much to his surprise. "Well? What do you want to do?"

Percy stared at her for a few moments, obviously not expecting her to stop reading anytime soon. "Um, I don't know?" He shrugged, scooting close to her and leaning against the tree.

"You don't know? Weren't you just complaining about being bored?" Annabeth laughed laying her head back to look up at the clouds.

"Well yeah." He said, glancing up at the clouds. "But I'm also tired."

"You're always tired."

"Oh shush. You sleep in all the time."

"I never said I didn't." Annabeth said as she stood up. Percy stared up at her for a few seconds. "Let's go." She offered him her hand.

Percy grabbed it and stood to his feet, brushing the dirt of his shorts. "Where are we going?" he asked, holding her hand as she led him down the hill. Annabeth shrugged and continued to walk down the hill and over towards the canoe lake. Percy seemed to be content just walking with her, enjoying the scenery.

Camp looked so beautiful in the summer. It always was abloom. The flowers and the strawberries in the fields, the trees full of leaves, the sounds of rushing water from the rivers and streams. Happy campers running around and just being kids. It was like a war hadn't happened. Like their lives were normal.

Annabeth let go of Percy's hand once they got to the beach, walking to the water and sitting down on the sand. Percy sat down next to her, looking out at the ocean. She knew it was his happy place. Annabeth felt her eyes getting heavy, the book she was once reading on sitting a few feet away from them.

Without thinking, Annabeth subconiously leaned her head on Percy's shoulder. Percy placed his arm around her, resting his cheek on top of her head and taking a deep breath. "It's so beautiful." Annabeth said, looking out into the ocean.

She loved the way the sun sparkled on the water, the way the waves crashed into the sand. Annabeth used to hate the ocean until she met Percy. It was something about it and him together that made it a peaceful place for her. The two sat there for a little bit longer, taking in the view, before Percy abruptly stood up.

Percy pulled his shirt off, throwing it on the sand and kicked off his shoes. "What are you doing?" Annabeth asked, laughing a little bit as she watched him get in the water.

"What does it look like?" He mocked, as he dunked under water and came back up, "Come on, Wise Girl. It feels great!"

Annabeth shook her head. She may have liked the ocean, but that didn't mean she was going to get in the ocean. Percy glared at her for a few moments, then stood up, shaking his hands as he walked towards her. By the time he got to her, he was instantly dry, and sat next to her again. He looked at her, obviously coming up with some horrible, terrible plan to get her in the water.

"What?" She asked, trying scoot a bit away, knowing he had something up his sleeve.

Percy shrugged and shook his head. "Nothing." He replied as he laid down on the sand, looking up at the sky. Annabeth smiled, seeing Percy so peaceful like this almost came as a surprise. After everything they had gone through together, seeing him being just an ordinary kid was probably one of Annabeth's most cherished memories.

After a few more minutes, she too laid down next to him, leaning against his side. Percy instantly pulled her close, making her blush and he started pointing out some of the 'figures' he saw in the sky. He told that when he was younger, his mother and him would go to Central Park and just look at the sky, trying to find shapes.

It warmed her heart that he was willing to share something like that with her now.

They had only been dating for a few short weeks, but everything seemed to be perfect. Percy was her best friend, and probably her favorite person, and she knew he would say that same about her (besides Grover really but who could be upset about that).

This was their happy place.
