if it keeps getting better
just let it go, forget it

WHEN CERELIA woke back up, her throat felt scratchy.

She blinked her eyes to adjust to the bright sunlight pouring in through the flimsy curtains, before she realised that she was in her own bedroom, in her own house.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" Evie asked, entering the room with a steaming mug in her hand.

Cerelia licked her dry lips before answering. "Fine."

Her throat felt too dried up and talking felt difficult. Her eyes hurt too.

"Drink some water." Evie said, handing over the glass of water from her bedside table, which Cerelia gulped down promptly.

"Here," she offered the mug to her, which Cerelia noticed to be hot chocolate, "I made this for you. You'll feel better."

"Thanks." She nodded, before an instant feeling of strength filled her up as she took a sip of the steaming liquid.

"You added blood in this?" She asked, making Evie smile at her sheepishly in response.

"Just for your health."

"Breakfast is almost ready." Evie continued. "You want it here or would you like to eat outside?"

Cerelia contemplated her question before quietly shrugging. "We can eat at the dining table."

"You sure?"

"Yeah." She nodded weakly before cautiously stepping down the bed and pushing her feet into her crocs.

"What's for breakfast, though?" Cerelia asked as the pair began to head out of the room.

"Not sure. Pancakes, I guess?"

"Not sure?" Her brows furrowed as they entered the kitchen and she turned to look at Evie in confusion. "You don't know what you made for breakfast?"

"Um, actually," Evie hesitated, her eyes flickering to something behind her in the kitchen, "I am not the one who has made the breakfast."

Cerelia stared at her in confusion for a moment before she turned around and her eyes fell on the figurine working by the stove.

"What is he doing here?"

Lucien turned around on hearing her loud voice.

"Uh, you don't want him here?" Evie asked, her eyes reflecting confusion before they settled down into a glare which got fixated on Lucien. "You should leave then, Mr. Castle."

Lucien ignored Evie and simply brought forward a plate of fresh pancakes. "Would you like honey or chocolate or both?"

Cerelia just stared at him.
