APPARENTLY, LUCIEN was wrong. There was nobody ready to pounce on her when she reached New Orleans.

Cerelia swallowed to herself harshly as she turned the car's ignition off, but instead of getting out of it, she sat there for a while, her mind muddled with thoughts.

She needs to keep Evie safe, doesn't she? Why can't Lucien understand that? She would never take the serum if it meant keeping her sister safe. They would leave and never look back. She will let go of Lucien and he will be happy with Aurora, his one true love. After all, he deserved someone better than her.

She wiped at her cheek harshly, not realizing when she had started crying and got out of the car as determination filled her up. This was it. Time for goodbyes. She will leave this all behind to keep Evie safe.

She quickly trudged up the stairs, quickly pocketing the so-called wedding ring of hers before opening the door to her shared apartment with Evie.

A frown marred her features as she was met with the feeling of the presence of more than one person.

She slowly stepped inside, reaching the living room, her eyes widening as she looked at all the people present there.

"Hello?" She called out, her tone confused as she took in the sight of Davina consoling a weeping Camille and Evie.

All eyes snapped to hers in tandem, widening in disbelief as relief flooded their faces. Evie immediately ran to her, throwing her hands around her neck and pulling her in a tight hug.

"Oh my god, you are okay." She spoke in a rush, her voice panicked. "Are you okay? Did he do something to you? What did he do? How are you—?"

"I am alright." Cerelia quelled down her worries with a reassuring smile. "He did nothing harmful to me."

"What happened? What did he do to you?" Evie continued to ask, prompting Davina to come forward and place a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"He took me to some house of sorts, there was a boundary spell around it." She explained, knowing that she'd have to lie a little about it. "I figured out the car could go across, so I stole it and escaped."

Evie breathed a sigh of relief, calmed down by her explanation. She moved aside to let Cami hug Cerelia.

"You really okay?" She asked kindly when she pulled back from the hug.

"Yes, of course. Nothing's happened. I am fine."

Davina looked at her apologetically. "I'm sorry, it's my fault. I should have never asked you to help them."
