Stepping off the plane, me and my bandmates grab our bags as Lindsey steps down and slides her coat off

Stepping off the plane, me and my bandmates grab our bags as Lindsey steps down and slides her coat off. "It's a lot warmer here than I thought."

"You might want to keep that on if you don't want to get cold." Theo comments.

She walks to us and takes her suitcase. "I have a jacket. I'll be fine."

"Come on. I booked us an AirBnB." I state, leading us to the car. We load up the trunk and climb inside, me in the driver's seat, Lindsey in the passenger, and Theo and Lucas in the back. The radio plays softly while I drive and Lindsey stays on her phone.

I notice her phone continuously buzzes. I glance between her and the road as she ignores the messages.

"Who keeps messaging you?" I ask, drawing her attention to me.

"My dad." She sighs. "I'd change my number, but he'd only find it again."

"Why not just block him?"

"Always finds a way around it." I see her shrug in the corner of my eye. "After a while, you give up. At least, that's what I tell myself." She mumbles the last bit to herself.

I wonder if that's why she didn't know anything about what was happening the day we, literally, ran into each other. Aside from her dad hiding things from her, she was completely confused. And it seemed as if she came for a completely different reason.

If you would've told her she'd had to meet me, it probably would have sent her running for the hills, if I'm going to be honest. She wasn't exactly fond of seeing me again and it was very obvious that she hated me from the start.

Even if I didn't— don't know what she has to hate me for.

I pull into the AirBnB and park behind the SUV. We climb out and I notice a figure sitting crouched beside the SUV, rummaging through a bag of some sort.

I walk around the front of the car to greet them, but they're already looking up and Lindsey is calling, "Ben?"

Immediately, he smiles widely and stands. "Lindsey."

"Oh, my gosh, hi!" She rushes to him, throwing her arms around him. "It's so good to see you!"

"You, too. You don't look like you've aged a day." They pull apart as I roll my eyes, walking toward the trunk to grab my luggage.

Theo throws his arms up. "We get death stares and snarky comments, yet he gets a hug? What is up with that?"

"What's wrong, Theo? Jealous?" Lucas taunts.

He snorts. "As if."

I grab both mine and Lindsey's suitcases and carry them toward the door, but I hear the sound of Lindsey laughing. It's a beautiful sound and I hate that it's not me making her laugh like that.

Suddenly, I really regret inviting Ben. He's Adalynn's assistant, but he's still a part of the band.

"Careful, Alex. Your jealousy is showing." Lucas taunts, and I get the urge to punch him. I don't, of course, because that'd be admitting it's true.
