There have been times where I've asked myself what made me like Lindsey. Was it her looks, her personality?

Granted, she was pretty, she was also kind. Generous. Soft-hearted. That's what made her beautiful. What made her extraordinary.

I often wondered if there was something else that drew me into her. And there was.

It was times like these, when she was happy, that made me fall irrevocably in love with her. When she smiled, the room lit up, but when she grinned... She could light up the whole damn world.

She looked like a fallen angel, beautiful and golden. That's what drew me in.

Others couldn't see it, but I did. I always saw it. Because it's what made her stand out. She was gorgeous inside and out, especially when she smiled.

God, I loved it when she smiled.

Every time she did, it was as if no one else mattered. As if the world was at a stand-still and all I could see was her.

Without even knowing, she became my sun.

She was everything I wanted, but couldn't have. Because I was just the loser who did football and played music. She was one of the popular kids.

People believed we shouldn't be together, that we didn't fit in. So I was forced to watch from afar. And no matter how much it pained me, I'd rather watch from afar than not see her at all.

She was my serotonin. I needed her more than I needed air, and the second I finally, finally, had her in my grasp, she slipped away. Like water between my fingers.

Now it feels as though she's so close, yet so far.

And I want her. Almost as badly as I did five years ago.

As I pay for the bears, I watch as Lindsey smiles down at her bear. She's glowing. Almost like a kid who just got their favorite gift in the whole wide world. I know Lindsey didn't have the best childhood; it was the best she was gonna get. She missed out on many opportunities, because of her father.

That's one of the reasons I hate her father. He may be my lawyer, but I don't hate him any less. He put Lindsey through hell, and I'm assuming Delilah, too.

I hand her my bear. "Hold mine?"

She smiles at me, taking the bear from me and I take the card back from the cashier. I still have all of her bags with me.

At first, I was dreading following her in here, but now I realize it was all worth it. Anything is worth making her smile.

After the bears have been paid for, I let her carry them as we walk through the mall. "We should get some food." I tell her, and she nods. We go to the food court and decide on sushi.

As we eat, a woman holding a little boy no older than five walks to us. "I'm so sorry to bother you, but are you from Soundcircus?"

I smile at her. "I am."

She smiles back. "My daughter is a huge fan of yours. Do you think I could get an autograph?"

"Of course." I grab a clean napkin and, taking the pen Lindsey offers me, I sign my signature on the napkin. "Here you go."

"Pretty." The little boy points at Lindsey, and I smile.

"Yeah. She is." I comment.

She smiles at me, then stands. She holds her hands out. "May I?"

"Of course." She lets Lindsey hold the little boy, who grins at her around his finger in his mouth. "Can I get a picture of you two?"

"Sure." Lindsey smiles. They take the picture then Lindsey hands the little boy back, waving at him.

Kids have always been Lindsey's soft spot. She adored kids with all her heart. Having a little one herself had always been her dream, though I'm not sure that's the case any longer. But I have noticed, in the last few meetings, whenever there's a crowd, she's always noticed the little ones.

Her smile grows bigger and she makes sure to let them know that they have her attention.

She'd be an amazing mother.

She reclaims her seat and the woman turns to me. She asks for a picture, which I agree to, standing and having Lindsey take the picture.

Then she leaves and we finish our food. Then we leave to head back home.

As I drive, I see her turn to me. "I'll have to go to my apartment before we go to Naomi's Christmas Eve."

"Not alone you aren't." I state. I'm not letting her go anywhere alone, especially not while Maggie is on the loose. Once she's caught, then maybe I'll let her. Albeit with a bodyguard following behind her, but she doesn't need to know that.

As long as she's safe.

"I know. I'm not going alone."

"Then who are you going with?" I glance at her before turning back at the road.

"You." Is all she says, and I see her shrug from the corner of my eye.

A small smile pulls at my lips and I turn away to hide it from her. "Good."

"We'll go early, since I want to try on my clothes and figure out what outfit I want to wear." I roll my eyes.

Not even surprised.
