I wake to the sound of beeping, the sound echoing. I slowly come out of sleep and open my eyes, only to be blinded.

I groan, lifting my hands to my face, but I feel something attached to them. Once I finally manage to open my eyes against the blinding light, I find lines going into my arm and all other sorts of wires connected to me.

"What the hell?" I murmur, my voice hoarse. Where am I?

I hear a door open, Naomi slipping inside. "You're awake." Relief lights up her features, and she hurries to me.

"What happened?" I ask, my voice barely present.

"You were drugged." Her hand falls on mine. "The doctor flushed your system of the drug and you've been asleep since."

"I was drugged." I furrow my brows. "How?"

"The doctor says it was the coffee."

"Coffee..." I whisper, trying to remember when I had coffee.

"Who put this coffee on my desk?"

"Oh, one of the new interns got us all coffees."

I squeeze my eyes shut. "The intern. Fuck."

"What intern?" Naomi asks, confused.

"The new one. The one who got us all coffees." I tell her, but the confused look on her face doesn't go away.

She tilts her head slightly. "We never had a new intern."

"What?" I whisper. "That's what Mandy said."

She shakes her head. "There wasn't a new intern. At least, not that I know of. And I didn't get any coffee."

The door opens again, Rhys wandering inside. "You're awake." He smiles softly at me.

I nod. "How long have I been here?"

"Only a day or two." I blow out a breath.

"Rhys, did you know there was a new intern?" Naomi asks, looking up at him.

"I never hired a new intern." Rhys furrows his brows, confused.

If Rhys never hired an intern, that means... I groan into my hands, my head falling back. "Fucking Maggie."

"Who?" They ask in unison.

"Maggie. Alex's ex. She's been stalking him and threatening me." I explain, removing my hands.

"Lindsey," Naomi says in a shocked voice. "Why didn't you say anything?"

I lift my head to look her in the eye. "Look, I already had this conversation with Alex. I don't need it again." Speaking of... "Have either of you heard from Alex? Is he here?" They share a knowing glance, and it bothers me. "What? What aren't you two saying?"

Naomi sighs. "No one is able to get ahold of Alex."

"We've also tried his bandmates, with no luck. Even his agent didn't pick up." Rhys adds on, giving me a sympathetic look.

I sag. No one can even get ahold of him.

"Maybe he's just busy." Naomi offers.

"Yeah, Sierra said the same thing." I murmur. I'm beginning to think he's not just busy.

Maybe I scared him off. Maybe he lost feelings. Maybe he never even loved me at all. Maybe this was all just a game to him.

I don't know what to think anymore.

The doctor walks in, holding a clipboard. He smiles kindly at me, walking to the end of the bed. "Glad to see you're awake, Miss Hayes."

"Just call me Lindsey." I say, pushing myself to sit up straighter with the help of Naomi.

"Alrighty, then. I hope you know that there was a drug, rohypnol, in your coffee that the police found. You're lucky you got here when you did, as too much can cause you to overdose and risk fatality. Now we've flushed it out of your system, but just in case, we want to keep you overnight." He informs me. I nod. "The police will come in to get your statement. Do you have an idea of who would try to drug you like this?"

"Margaret Moreno." I reply. "She's been trying to kill me since November."

His eyes widen at my response. "Well, I'll be sure to let the police know." He nods. "Visiting hours end at ten." He smiles at us, then leaves.

I sigh. Naomi's hand falls on my shoulder and I find her staring at me with a sad expression. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine." I tell her. It's a lie. I'm not okay.

"Don't worry. I'm sure Alex will come back soon." She smiles encouragingly at me.

"I hope so."
