FIVE YEARS, SEVEN MONTHS, AND FIVE DAYS AGO
Ever since I proposed the deal a few months ago, Lindsey has gotten along well with Lucas and Theo, as well as Ben, Daniel, and even Lanie.
I think it's nice for Lindsey to have a girl friend, especially since she's mainly surrounded by guys. Her and Ben have gotten along well (I think he's her favorite).
Lindsey sits beside me at our table, listening to Lucas and Theo bicker back and forth. She laughs at them and I love hearing the sound of it. Ever since she's been added to the group, she seems happier. More like herself.
I nudge her with my elbow. "I was thinking, since school's almost out, you could spend the summer with us."
She smiles at me. "What's wrong, Alex? Worried you'll miss me too much?" She teases, her favorite thing to do, especially to me.
"I should be saying the same thing about you." I bump my shoulder with hers, making her smile widen.
"I have nothing planned for the summer anyway. May as well make it fun." She shrugs. "Oh, guys, there's a party tonight that I'm not invited to. I say we crash it."
"I'm down." Theo throws out.
"If he's down, I'm down." Lucas says.
She claps her hands once. "Let's do this!"
Later that night, we were pulling up to the party with beer. Lindsey was dressed in a pink sparkling dress that fell to her mid-thigh with glittery eyeshadow painted on her face, Lanie in a similar outfit except hers was silver.
We slip inside the house, music blaring. Almost the entire school is here. Most are too drunk to realize we're here, but it's not long before they realize. We're drinking and dancing before long.
We decide to play beer pong, me and Lindsey at one end of the table with people surrounding us. Lindsey throws the ping pong ball and the minute she wins, cheers erupt and she's turning to me with a grin, laughing and clapping my hands.
Theo and Lucas are dancing with girls and drinking themselves sick while Ben, Daniel, and Lanie are somewhere off to God knows where.
It's just me and Lindsey.
She takes my hand, leading me through the crowd, up the stairs, to the quiet of the upstairs. The music is still playing and you can hear it from up here, but it's muffled.
Lindsey pushes me against the wall in a farther hallway and suddenly, I'm acutely aware of her closeness. We begin to lean in, as if we're going to kiss, but a voice comes near us.
"Come on." She whispers with a devious grin. She leads me to a bedroom, pulling me inside. I recognize the room as Lisa's. According to the pictures on her wall and her nightstand.
"What are we doing in here?" I ask, confused.
"Lisa stole something from me. So I'm stealing something from her." She shrugs. She walks over to the desk, searching it. I walk to her and we search her desk.
