𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐒𝐄𝐘
For the past five years, I've managed to avoid him. I've managed to forget about him and move on from him. Mostly. Alex Lancaster and I have history, but nothing will ever change between us.
At least until he shows up at my dad's work...

I push back the curtain to peek out at the crowd. There are a lot more people here than there were at Amy Whitmore's show. They're excited, jittery.
Like a pack of wolves, torturing their prey. At least, that's how it feels.
Society has always felt like a bunch of wild, rabid animals, picking people apart like their prey.
There's a hand on my shoulder, and I spin around, eyes wide and alert. "Woah, relax. It's just me." Alex holds his hands up.
I exhale a breath. "What are you doing?"
"I should be asking you that question." He quirks a brow. "What did I tell you about freakin' yourself out?"
I roll my eyes. "There's a lot of people out there." I mumble, looking back out.
But he pulls me back. "Stop looking out there. Just focus on where you are right now."
I snort a laugh. "That's easy for you to say. You were made for the spotlight." I walk past him, moving to head backstage.
"Hey," His voice is abnormally soft and it has me looking up. He grabs my hands and stares down at me with sincerity in his eye. "I was once in your position. I know how it feels. I know what that anxiety feels like. But you can't let it consume you. You have to be confident, proud. Don't hide who you are."
"What if they hate me?"
"There will always be a lot more people who love you than those who hate you." He gives me a soft smile. "My fans love you. Even if there are those who would do whatever it takes to break us apart."
"That's not as comforting as you think it is." I frown.
"I'll be out there with you, so will Theo and Lucas. You don't have anything to worry about." Except the part where someone is actively trying to kill me.
"Hey," a sharp voice catches our attention. "You're on in five." We nod and the stage manager walks away, her heels clicking.
I take my hands from Alex and run them down my light pink dress with spaghetti straps and a low neckline, showing quite a bit of cleavage. The dress is quite long, falling almost to my ankles. My feet are in a pair of nude stilettos.
"Do you think I'm overdressed? Or underdressed?" The thought of being underdressed is worse than being overdressed. I mean, either way you're standing out in some way shape or form, but being underdressed is just disappointing.
"Lindsey," He places his hands on my shoulders. "You look beautiful."
Theo and Lucas walk up to us. "You two ready to do this?" Theo asks.
I smile nervously, running my hands down my dress. "Let's do this." My anxiety is beginning to sky rocket, but a hand slips into mine. I smile softly at him.
Alex is first on stage. The screams grow ever so loud, drowning out my thoughts. There are a lot more people here than at Amy Whitmore's show which means that it's gonna be a hell of a lot louder.
