𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐒𝐄𝐘
For the past five years, I've managed to avoid him. I've managed to forget about him and move on from him. Mostly. Alex Lancaster and I have history, but nothing will ever change between us.
At least until he shows up at my dad's work...

Pulling up to the house, it looks just as grand as I'd expect it to be. With Lisa coming from a wealthy family, she typically threw parties in large, extravagant parties. Which made them all the rage.
Me and Lanie step out of the car, people everywhere. The house is flooded.
We meet up together as the taxi leaves and begin to walk to the door. "There's a bouncer." I state. Geez, I guess there's so many people here that she needs a bouncer.
"Come on. I know another way in." She grins, grabbing my hand and leading us to the side gate. We climb over, readjusting our dresses once we're on the ground again.
"Let's just hope we didn't flash anybody." I remark.
She smiles. "At least they won't be disappointed." At that, we laugh before we walk into the backyard, which is littered with people who are drunk, swimming, and/or making out.
We enter through the backdoor and immediately search for drinks as Sexy Bitchby David Guetta plays through the speakers. I dance as we walk through the house, finally finding the kitchen where bottles of alcohol and kegs are everywhere.
The music's not as loud in here as it was, which means the speakers are probably in the living room not far from here.
"What should we start off with? Want to jump right in, or ease into it?" She looks at me over her shoulder, moving through the different bottles.
"Are you kidding? I'm here to get drunk." I retort. "Hit me."
She grins before snatching a bottle, filling up two shot glasses. She slides one to me and we both throw our heads back, downing the shots. I grimace against the taste as it burns on the way down.
"Whew!" I shake my head. "That is definitely strong."
I slide my glass back to her and she smiles, happily refilling them. We do that about four more times before I start to feel the buzz. I'm beginning to feel weightless.
I smack the counter. "Come on, let's dance."
We follow the sound of the music, finding the living room where a makeshift dance floor has been created. We mix in with the crowd, dancing to the music, swaying our hips and flipping our hair. We grin at each other.
We sing the lyrics to the songs as they play, growing breathless. Occasionally, we return to the kitchen for more drinks, growing drunker with each drink.
This time, when we blend in with the crowd, I Don't Care by Icona Pop plays. We jump up and down as we sing the lyrics.
At the beat drop, the entirety of the crowd screams, "I don't care!"
For a moment, I forget about everything. About my dad. About my sister. About my work. About Maggie. I forget everything but this moment.
Once the song ends, we continue dancing, Club Can't Handle Me playing next. We feel ourselves in the moment, not even caring if anybody notices us (which I doubt they will). Me and Lanie stick together, dancing together with grins on our faces.
