On a rain-soaked day, Kol, Amalie, Mikey, and Draken gathered to pay their respects at Shinichiro's grave. The only other instance she felt the pang of grief at a gravesite was the day her mother passed away.
Recalling the loss of her mother, she couldn't shake the feeling of foolishness, especially considering her actions upon returning. It was a time when she was still that naive little girl, blissfully ignorant of the harsh realities unfolding around her, where people perished, and she remained untouched.
Being immortal or a vampire was never her aspiration, so returning to mortality suited her just fine. However, standing before Shinichiro's grave was a stark reminder that life was fragile, and hers could have ended two years ago alongside his.
The somber scene was disrupted as Takemichi and Chifuyu joined them, engaging Mikey in a conversation about the events inside Valhalla's hideout. Takemichi took the lead in recounting the night when Baji and Kazutora attempted to steal a bike, and the group was visibly taken aback by Baji's revelation about that fateful night.
" I see. So you heard about my older brother". Mikey muttered.
" Shinichiro-kun was an incredible guy". Draken chimed in, gallantly sheltering Mikey under an umbrella.
" Yeah". Mikey responded in hushed tones.
" He was a soft and gentle soul too". Amalie added.
Kol shrugged," Well, he was indeed a great one".
" Amalie-chan... W-what Baji-kun said about you being hurt that night... was it true ?". Takemichi asked, his voice tinged with nervousness.
A chill settled over the group as everyone heard Takemichi's question, causing him to nervously gulp.
" I-I'm sorry... I shouldn't-". Takemichi's voice trailed off.
Amalie interrupted him," It's alright. That's not a secret".
She sighed, gazing toward the sky and then at Takemichi.
" I was with Shinichiro-kun that night. As we were taking a drink before leaving the shop, we heard a noise. Approaching the source, we saw Baji trying to take away a bike. Then Kazutora arrived from behind us, pushed me against the wall, causing tools on the shelf to fall on my head, and you know what happened to Shinichiro-kun... Here, look". Amalie said, lifting her hair.
Takemichi's eyes widened as he saw the scar under Amalie's long hair.
" It's a miracle that my sister is alive today. You can judge it by the scar, but she could have died". Kol chimed in.
" It was a miracle that she even opened her eyes, but we are all grateful for that". Draken stated as he gently patted Amalie's head.
Amalie pouted slightly as she tried to place her hair back before sighing," I just regret... that I couldn't save or do more for your brother, Mikey".
" You couldn't have done anything. I'm already grateful that you are here with us". Mikey replied softly.
" Takemitchy... We know too. We acknowledge that past incidents can't be undone, whether it involves Shinichiro-kun or Amalie. In the cases of Shinichiro-kun, Amalie, Baji, and Kazutora, they didn't intend for that to happen". Draken stated.
Mikey rose and began to walk, prompting the rest of the group to follow
" Yeah... It's too late to change what happened. I understand that. But deep down, I can't accept it. The CB250T that Baji and Kazutora were attempting to steal belonged to my brother. It was with this that Ama-chin was helping him". Mikey revealed.
