Amidst the tumultuous chaos within, Amalie found herself gazing up at the stars, inhaling the night air, with Hanma lingering nearby.
" I heard it's been a year since you and Matsuno got married". Hanma suddenly shattered the silence.
Amalie, on guard, nodded curtly," That's correct".
" In a year, you must have noticed not everyone is thrilled about your marriage". Hanma pointed out.
" Do I need to care ? It's my life, and I'm the one living it with Chifuyu. If I find happiness in it, that's all that matters to me". Amalie retorted sternly.
Hanma tilted his head," Maybe. But Kisaki has a proposition for you".
Amalie raised an eyebrow, then rolled her eyes dismissively," I don't care".
" Let me finish, cutie. He wants you to divorce Matsuno. If you refuse, he'll make sure Matsuno ends up dead. The choice is yours". Hanma continued.
Amalie frowned at the blatant blackmail. She wasn't surprised. Reflecting on the day she helped Kisaki, she regretted intervening with that sickly little boy.
" He won't stop. When Kisaki wants something, he gets it, no matter what. Even if you and Matsuno decide to leave Japan, he'll still be on your tail". Hanma warned.
Amalie forced a bitter smile," I've spent centuries fleeing from our father with my siblings. I won't repeat those mistakes now".
Sighing, she wondered if Kol and Chifuyu could forgive her. Gazing at the stars one last time, she felt a surge of emotions, acknowledging that despite its imperfections, her life had been good.
" I'd rather die". Amalie muttered.
Hanma raised an eyebrow, observing her carefully. Amalie began walking towards the edge of the building roof.
" Stop this. I won't let you jump. I foresaw this possibility. People I instructed are waiting on each side of the building to prevent your stunt". Hanma said firmly as he approached her.
Amalie, adjusting her skirt, smoothly revealed the hidden gun at her hip.
" But did you foresee this, Hanma ? My father may have been a jerk, but I've held onto one lesson until now—the only lesson from him: never go into a fight without a hidden weapon". Amalie stated.
Hanma gritted his teeth," You don't have the guts to do it".
" If it means saving the people I love and being the reason for their danger, then without hesitation". Amalie retorted seriously.
Before Hanma could reach her, Amalie pulled the trigger, shooting herself in the head, and let her body fall.
Hanma hit the railing with his fist and sighed," How dull. Kisaki won't like that at all".
In the cruel twist of fate, Kol had ushered himself into this world first, only to be the initial departure, while Amalie, who had never strayed far from her older brother, now found herself on the precipice of an imminent exit.
Within the confines of the building, Takemichi finally regained consciousness, discovering himself in the same ominous room. Panic seized him as he realized his inability to move; he was securely fastened to a chair. His eyes locked onto a pool of blood at his feet, and a jolt of horror surged through him as he witnessed Kol sprawled on the floor within the sanguine puddle.
" What the hell? Kol-kun ?!". Takemichi's voice echoed in the grim space.
" Takemitchy". Came a reply.
Takemichi shifted his gaze to see Chifuyu bound to a chair, bearing the brutal aftermath of a severe beating.
" What... Why are you all battered ? What happened to Kol-kun ?!". Takemichi demanded, a hint of panic in his voice.
