A Moment In Time

There's always a moment in time
When memories like this
Clash and collide,
Strife and stride
Until there is nothing more
Then this perfect score.

It's in those times where I wish,
Wish that I pause this scene,
And stand between
The growing confusion.
Stand between and intrude
On them simply living their lives.

I'm sure I know those people,
There's a reason I paused,
It had something to do with me, too.
So it had to be something they and I knew.

It is in these moments where they are jokes.
And every once in a while, something provokes
My bountiful laughter.

This!
This!
I wish I could freeze this moment in time!
My hands stuck on the keys,
My mind up in the sky,
The sun beating down on my olive skin.
It is in these moments,
That I wish I could forget my obligation here.

Why don't I do just that?
I am not writing to finish this book.
No!
You're sorely mistaken!
I'm writing,
Simply because I find fun in committing
To a task that I find reasonable,
Relatable,
Or maybe just downright depressing.

No!
I am not writing to finish!
What a silly thing to assume!
All I do is consume
The information about me,
And turn it into a hopeful poem.

And, in the end,
Maybe,
Just maybe,
Writing is something I can defend,
For it is my dearest friend.
