Kassandra's POV

Near the trailer park, we stop the stolen RV.

"Okay. I wanna run through it one more time," says Nancy. "Phase 1."

"We meet Erica at the playground. She'll signal Max and Lucas when we're ready," Robin says.

"Phase 2."

"Max baits Vecna," says Steve. "He'll go after her, which'll put him in his trance."

"Phase three?"

"Me and Eddie draw the bats away," says Dustin. Eddie rubs the younger boy's head affectionately.

"Four."

"We head into Vecna's newly bat-free lair, and..." Robin shakes a Molotov cocktail, "flambé."

"Nobody moves onto the next phase until we've all copied," Nancy says. "Nobody deviates from the plan, no matter what. Got it?"

"Got it," everyone else agrees.

"Kassandra?" Nancy asks.

I look at her, before nodding. I still do not like it, but what can I do?

We all leave the RV where it could be found, and we head into the night, as stealthily as a group of teens can be. Steve leads the way to Eddie's trailer, unlocking it, and opening the door and turning on the lights. We all filter in, Eddie closing the door.

"Be careful," Dustin says as Steve grips the tied sheets, still suspended in both directions.

"Thanks, buddy," responds Steve. He takes a deep breath, before saying, "Here goes nothing."

Steve climbs through, landing on his feet. He looks up at us, proud at how cool he felt.

"Woah, what does he want us to do? Applaud?" Robin mutters sarcastically.

Steve moves Eddie's mattress underneath the hole, creating an identical landing pad. Once it is all done, Nancy goes through next. She lands right on her back, Steve offering a hand up. He pulls her up, and they are face to face for a tense moment. I clear my throat, reminding her of my existence, and that she is already in a relationship. With my brother. We start tossing the supplies through, before Sending Eddie and Robin through. We send a couple more stuff through, before I grab Dustin.

"Wait, hold on, you can't just—"

I throw him through the portal, before climbing myself, also landing on my feet. We distribute our supplies and head out, into the Upside Down.

As Dustin and Eddie turn to start fortifying Eddie's trailer, Steve turns back to them. "Hey, guys, listen. If things here start going south, I mean, at all, you abort. Okay? Draw the attention of the bats. Keep 'em busy for a minute or two. We'll take care of Vecna. Don't try to be cute or be a hero or something. Okay? You guys are just—"

"Decoys." Dustin finished with Steve

"Don't worry," continues Dustin. "You can be the hero, Steve."

"Absolutely. I mean, look at us. We are not heroes," says Eddie.

"I do not think so," I say. "Your roles are vital to this plan."

Dustin looks at me quizzically. "Don't you hate this plan?"

I nod. "Of course. I think it puts all of your lives in horrible danger, but you all insist upon it. And for it to work, your jobs are very important."

Eddie and Dustin nod to themselves. Steve and I turn back, ready to join the others
