I follow the scent of the Demogorgon with Dad right behind me. I heard screaming from more soldiers, though they seemed more like a little girl's than anything. It wasn't till I picked up a new scent that fear filled my body.
I know this scent. With the amount of times I've been in the Wheeler house, I knew the scent of every member of that house, but this one especially. That scream was not a soldier, but a familiar scream. I've heard it multiple times, when I snuck up on him, having him turn around and see a surprise dinosaur in the face.

I turn to Dad, but he is suddenly sent flying into a tree. I pounce at the attacker, expecting Vecna, only to land on—
"Jane?!"
Having transformed mid jump upon realizing who it was, the name comes out a little garbled, as my face shrinks back to human proportions.

I quickly help Jane off the ground. I readjust the makeshift mask to protect against the Upside Down's possibly toxic fumes. "How are you here?"
Dad groans from his place on the ground. "Hop!"
We quickly run to our father, Jane crouching down next to him. "I'm sorry. Are you okay?"
"El. How are you here?" asks Dad. Instead of answering, Jane looks around, before grabbing Dad's flashlight. "Wait. Wait. Wait, you gotta... you gotta get out of here. It's not safe."
I walk over to Jane and ask, "I smelt a new scent join with the Demogorgon we're hunting. Did the Demo take Mike?"
Jane shines the flashlight on a broken stump. On the broken stump, Demogorgon blood coats a part of the stump. "She must have hurt it."
"What? Who?" Dad asks.
"Karen. With her wine," explains Jane. "Or maybe Lucas."
"What?" Dad asks, still confused.
"I also hurt it. It ran before I could finish it," I explain.
Jane walks back to where Hop had been thrown, picks up the gun and hands it back to Hopper. "When I search for Mike, I can't find him, but she must be close."
"Mike?"
"We just need to follow the blood," I say. "Follow me."
I transform into my velociraptor form, and follow after the scent, making sure to not step on any vines. Jane is hot on my tail, walking fast to keep up. Hopper, holding his gun, trails behind us.
"Michael Wheeler? What are you... girls, wait! Goddamn it!
