Season 3, Chapter 1: Suzie, Do You Copy?
With school being over, I can spend more time with people. Well, not everyone. Dustin is away at science camp and Mike and Jane are doing something Max calls 'swapping spit'. When I asked Will what that meant, he said it just meant kissing.
Is it annoying how often Mike comes over?
Yes.
Is it better than having Jane pine after him from a far?
Also, yes.
I just wish they spent some time away from each other. Mike has friends and I have not seen Jane in forever.
Because Mike and Jane have spent the last few months down each other's throats, I have been spending time with Hopper and the rest of the party.
Out of the party, Max comes over the most, after Mike. Max and I have a nice friendship. It is not the relationship I want with Max, but it will have to suffice.
Max is dating Lucas. Not me. Probably never me. And I have to be ok with that.
I try not to get hopeful every time they break up. Max and Lucas have been together, then apart constantly throughout the months. Every time, Max talks to me about all the problems Lucas causes. She complains over and over, to the point I do not think they will be together. But they always get back together.
On the bright side, Max has helped me learn 2 new forms.
On one of the last days of school, Max came over.
(Time Reversal)
"Thanks for the ride, Hopper. Hey, Kassie." Max says as she gets out of Hopper's car.
Mike does not even acknowledge any of us as he gets out of Hopper's car and rushes to Jane. Jane, a huge smile on her face, rushes to meet him. I raise an eyebrow, a skill I learned from Max, and looked at the couple. They ignored us and entered the house.
Hopper huffs and quickly follows, not wanting them to get too intimate, but first he gives me a quick one armed hug and kiss on the top of my head.
I turn to Max and smile at the ginger girl. I walk towards her and give her a hug.
"I missed you." I say.
"Same here." Max says, hugging back.
We separate and I look into her eyes. The sparkling sapphires look like pictures of the ocean as huge waves soak the hot sand of a beach.
After quickly realizing I have been staring into her eyes for far too long. I lower my gaze and blush. I try to hide it, but when my gaze lowers to her lips, I cannot help but blush even further as I imagine those lips softly pressed against my own.
"Um... so... um what are we going to do today?" I ask, my voice stammering as I try to forget the image of Max kissing me, her hands cupping my face, my hands running through her long fire-like hair.
Max clears her throat, seemingly coming out of her own thoughts and saying, "Well you've shown me all your dinosaur forms. Do you know if you can turn into any others?"
"I do not know." I confess. "I have not looked at the book in forever."
"Well, maybe now it's time to go back to it." Max says with a grin on her face.
I match her grin and pull her inside to go get the book, only to realize it is back in the room where Jane and Mike are kissing, while trying to make sure Hopper cannot see.
I roll my eyes and enter the room, leaving the door much wider that the three inch minimum that Hopper required. The lovers spring apart and hurriedly pretend that they were not just making out as Max calls it.
