Season 4, Episode 6: The Dive
Kassandra's POV
After the incident, it was... well, a little tense. After I was able to get myself back under control, there were a couple necessary questions that needed to be asked and answered. I explained how I had been getting these rushes of energy at random times, and seems to be linked to what Vecna is doing, the same thing that caused the lights to blow out.
Was I embarrassed? Very much so. It has been nearly a year since I truly lost control like that. A very humbling experience to say the least.
That night, we all went to Steve's house, since his parents are not home and he has the largest and closest house that can fit us all. I stay downstairs and sleep on one of the couches with Max. Finally, we both get some sleep, wrapped in each other's arms.
When we woke up, we made sure to have a nice breakfast, all seven of us. Nancy made us some eggs, and Steve was trying to make bacon, but I had to step in. I could smelling them starting to burn. Robin made the teens some coffee. Dustin tried to get Steve to let him have some, but he refused.
It was only then, that I remembered Eddie trying to contact us yesterday, but no one answering. I brought it up, and we figured that we would buy him some food and catch him up to speed with everything that is happened so far.
"Not to be a wimp, but can I maybe sit in the car for this visit? 'Cause this is gonna totally and royally suck," Robin asks from the passenger seat.
"It'll be fine," Nancy says, driving.
"I just can't stand to see those doe eyes of Eddie's break again," Robin says. "I really, really can't."
"At least he can drink himself into feeling better," Steve says, sharing pringles with the boys in the trunk area behind Max and I.
"That's what my mom does." Max mutters.
"Why don't we give it a trial run?" Robin says. " 'Hey, Eddie. Uh, good news first this time. We got you some Dustin-approved junk food and that six-pack you requested. Oh yeah, and we found Vecna. Only the bad news is that he's in that other, darker, much scarier dimension that we told you about, and the gate's closed, so we have no way of getting to him. Like he's entirely shut off to us, so basically you're screwed. And, no, I know you were already screwed, but now you're doubly, triply screwed.' "
"Okay, wait, wait, wait. Maybe we don't put it like that." Lucas suggests.
" 'We're one step closer to finding Vecna.' That's what we say," says Nancy. "That's what's important."
"And we have probably our greatest weapon to fight him," Steve says. "See, Robin? Positive spin can make all the difference."
"Uh-huh." Robin agrees, sarcastically.
"Oh, shit." Nancy says.
I look through the windshield and understand her curse. Reefer Rick's house is surrounded by police, reporters, and onlookers. We step out as the police try to keep the crowd back.
Nancy leads us closer to the crime scene, without getting spotted by others.
As we approach, we listen in to the new police chief's statement. "As many of you may know by now, the Roane County line received a call a little after midnight reporting a homicide out here on the lake. Officer Callahan here and myself arrived first on the scene. We made our way to the shore of Lover's Lake, about ten yards from that house you see behind me. It was there that we found the victim, an 18-year-old senior from Hawkins High, Patrick McKinney. His limbs, his body, it was disfigured. There was an eyewitness on the scene. We have also identified a person of interest. Eddie Munson. We encourage anyone with information to please come forward."
