And most importantly…
I am finally free. Free to be who I want to be. Free to be the real me.
I woke up early today, still groggy from sleep. Wanting to shake off the drowsiness, I immediately took a shower to awaken my senses before leaving the rest house.
I spent the morning in town, not far from the resort, still searching for a piece of land to buy. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything suitable yet.
I keep hoping and praying that I’ll find the perfect spot soon—after all, it’s essential for the business I plan to build.
Now, I’m just waiting for a cab to take me back to the resort, where I can rest and relax for a while.
After nearly fifteen minutes of waiting…
"To the resort nearby, Mister," I said as I hopped inside a cab.
"Pardon me?"
A cold, unfamiliar voice made me freeze.
I turned to look and was shocked to see a woman behind the wheel.
"Oh! I-I'm sorry! I wasn’t paying attention, and I just assumed—since most drivers are men," I explained awkwardly. How embarrassing!
She stared at me with a look of disbelief but said nothing.
Wow. I didn’t expect the driver to be this beautiful.
"Uh… s-sorry. L-let’s go, Miss," I stammered, quickly looking away.
She started driving in silence. Out of all the cab drivers I’ve encountered, she’s the only one who isn’t talkative. Is it because she’s a woman? Her expression is unreadable, and she has a cold, distant presence.
As we drove, I once again found myself captivated by the beauty of this place. Even though I’ve been here for over a week, I still find every view mesmerizing.
While admiring the scenery, I caught her stealing a glance at me—only for her to quickly look away.
What was that about? This is getting awkward.
After about twenty minutes, we arrived at the resort.
"How much?" I asked, taking out my wallet.
"You don’t have to pay me," she said flatly, not even looking at me.
"Huh? What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
"I mean you don’t have to pay me," she repeated, her tone lazy and uninterested.
"That’s not right. Just take it," I insisted, holding out the money, but she didn’t accept it.
"Keep that. And, Miss… I’m not a cab driver. You mistook me for one," she revealed. "I had just stopped to check something and didn’t even notice you were there at first."
My eyes widened.
Oh. My. God.
I just hopped into a stranger’s car?!
"I-I’m really sorry!" I blurted out, bowing my head in embarrassment.
This is so humiliating!
"It’s fine, I don’t mind," she said casually. "I didn’t bother correcting you since I was heading here anyway."
She got out of the car, but I quickly followed her.
"Wait!" I called out. "Since you won’t let me pay, there must be another way I can make it up to you. Just tell me!"
She stopped walking and turned to face me.
"I already told you, you don’t have to. I don’t mind. Okay? It’s nothing," she said, but there was a hint of annoyance in her voice.
Wow. So grumpy.
"Is that so? Well… thank you!" I said, bowing once again.
So embarrassing!
"You’re welcome," she muttered. "And next time, don’t just get into a car without asking first."
With that, she walked away, leaving me standing there, utterly mortified.
What a shame, Akari!
I groaned and lightly smacked my forehead out of sheer embarrassment.
