Chapter 32

Akari’s POV

                       "Confrontation"

We were having lunch in the guest dining area. While eating, I couldn’t help but laugh at Solenn’s corny jokes. She wouldn’t stop teasing me, but at the same time, she was incredibly sweet and clingy.

"Stop being so affectionate; people are staring at us," I whispered, feeling a little embarrassed.

"Don't mind them, okay? Just keep your eyes on me," she said with a bright smile.

"Alright, but can you stop feeding me? I can do it myself," I whined, making her chuckle.

"Fine~ I just don’t want you to get tired," she said sweetly.

I furrowed my brows. "I appreciate it, but you're treating me like a child."

"Why not? You’re my baby, my honey bunch~" she giggled while squeezing my cheeks.

Goodness. This is embarrassing.

"Gosh, this is so awkward. Can we just eat like normal people?" I sighed dramatically.

"Aw, my shy baby~ you’re so cute," she teased, poking my nose.

"Stop teasing me and just eat," I said, rolling my eyes before feeding her a bite.

"Oops! Don’t talk with your mouth full," I scolded, raising a brow.

"Aw, my little hamster is so adorable," I teased back, patting her head playfully.

Suddenly, someone cleared their throat.

"What’s going on here? Looks like you two are having fun," Margot suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

I glanced at Solenn, who had gone from playful to serious in an instant.

"Hi, Margot. Have you eaten?" I greeted politely.

"Not yet. Mind if I join?" she asked with a small smile.

"Of course, have a seat," I replied as she sat next to Solenn.

"Hey, Solenn," Margot greeted, but Solenn only gave her an awkward look.

What’s with her? That was weird.

"You two seem really close," Margot remarked, smirking as she observed us.

Solenn and I exchanged glances, unsure how to respond.

"I noticed how sweet you are to each other. You look like a couple," Margot added jokingly, making Solenn nearly choke on her food.

I should really talk to Solenn about this. Pretending in front of Margot, who knows her well, is becoming difficult.

"We're just really close and comfortable with each other," I said with an awkward smile.

"She’s right. Ms. Megumi is very easy and fun to be around," Solenn added sweetly, locking eyes with me in that soft, heart-melting way.

"As well as Ms. Solenn," I replied, catching myself before I slipped up. Solenn smirked at my nervousness. Such a tease.

"I see," Margot mused. "Well, my dear friend Solenn has always been good at making friends. She may look intimidating, but she’s approachable."

She draped an arm over Solenn’s shoulders, and I immediately noticed Solenn tense up.

I clenched my fists under the table. I hate their skinship. I wish I could just tell Margot to stop touching my Solenn.

"Why so quiet?" Margot teased before reaching out to wipe the corner of Solenn’s lips.

My jaw clenched as I watched.
