Chapter 13

Zyleith's POV    

                  "Taking care of koala"

It was nine o'clock in the morning when they started filming, and now it was already three in the afternoon—yet they were still not done.

The shoot began outside the resort gates, then moved to various locations inside, capturing every scenic corner.

Of course, I was with them since Richard insisted I oversee everything to ensure I was satisfied. So far, the shots were well-executed, and I liked them—despite the sweltering heat that made the entire experience frustrating.

"Great job, everyone! Let's take a break for now!" Richard shouted in satisfaction.

"Nice work, Chad. You're really good at this, huh? I'm impressed," I said, amused.

"Thank you! You know how much I love this job, so I always give it my best," he said proudly.

"I can see that. And to all of you—great job! Now go grab some snacks, whatever you want. It's on me."

A chorus of cheers erupted from the crew.

"What are you waiting for? Let's go, guys!" I added, walking towards the dining area.

As soon as we entered, they quickly grabbed seats near the best view of the beach.

They were loud and chaotic, and normally, I couldn’t stand noisy people. But I let it slide since I knew they were just enjoying themselves. Chit-chatting with friends was probably their way of relieving stress and exhaustion.

"Guys, order whatever you like and enjoy. I’m going upstairs to rest for a bit," I said. But before heading up, I decided to grab a smoothie first. The heat was unbearable, and my throat felt dry.

"Aren't you going to eat first?" Richard asked, slightly concerned.

"I'm not hungry, just need something refreshing," I replied.

"If you say so. Go ahead and rest," he said with a grin.

I had barely taken five steps when I saw her.

Megumi.

She was hurrying in my direction, looking exhausted, almost disoriented. She nearly bumped into me.

"I-I'm s-sorry, I was in a hurry," she said, panting.

Why is she in such a rush? She looks like she’s about to collapse.

"It's okay, just—"

Before I could finish, she was already gone.

What the heck? What's with her?

Annoyed and confused, I continued towards the cafeteria, ordered my smoothie, then left.

I was about to go upstairs when Richard called out to me.

"Hey, Chad, do you know that woman?"

His question caught me off guard.

"Why are you asking? Don't tell me you're interested?" I asked, keeping my expression neutral.

His sudden curiosity irritated me, and I didn’t know why.

"I-I don't know... Maybe? She caught my attention," he admitted, scratching the back of his head.

I clenched my jaw. Why did that annoy me so much?

"Megumi. That’s her name. But I only know her as a guest here," I said flatly.

"Oh. I thought you two were friends."

His voice held a hint of disappointment.

For some reason, I wanted to kick his ass.
