They said first impression or interaction with someone could still change. But it won't work for me and Kade because ever since our first interaction which is an argument, it never ended and never changed! I guess they are wrong. Dahil not even once we talked without arguing over little things.
“Bakit pa kasi ikaw ang naging kapares ko sa assignment na ito!” Sambit ko kay Kade.
Sisisihin ko talaga siya kasi kung hindi siya sumagot sagot saakin kanina sa recit namin edi sana hindi sinabi ng prof namin na “Since you two really have good ideas and it could be perfect pag nag combine, kayo ang magiging pair sa assignment ninyo.” At ang mas masaklap wala akong magagawa kasi she's one of our terror professors. I don't want her to dislike me just because of this jerk.
“It's not my fault that I have an opposite answer with yours.” Tanging sagot nito at binalik ang tingin sa librong binabasa niya.
Gusto ko sana siyang sigawan pa pero nandito kami sa library, ayokong mapagalitan.
“Fine. Simulan na nga natin nang natapos na.” Mahinang sagot ko kahit na labag sa kalooban ko. Anong magagawa ko? Wala naman akong ultra mega close friend sa classroom na pwede kong yayain na siya nalang partner ko. Tanging itong si Kade lang ang kilala ko, syempre kikilalanin ko talaga ang rival ko.
“This is the case that our professor gave us, and what we are going to do is to—” I shush his mouth and cover it using my finger that shocked him. There, gotcha!
“I already know, as if I did not listen earlier. Dzuh!” I rolled my eyes and looked into the paper.
As I was reading the case I noticed in my peripheral vision that someone is looking at me. I slowly turned my head towards that someone and I caught Kade looking away.
“What's the matter? May dumi ba mukha ko?” I asked him. I saw how his adam's apple moved and slowly turned his head to face me.
“Uh... No! Of course, maarte ka kaya! At 'tsaka I'm not looking at you, nakatingin ako sa mga bookshelfs sa likod mo. Assuming.” Eh? I just asked him if may dumi ba ang mukha ko hindi ko naman sinabi na bakit siya tumitingin ah? Why is he explaining?
“Ewan ko sa'yo, let's just finish this. Nakakainis ang pagmumukha mo.” I aswered and rolled my eyes.
“There! Tapos na ako sa part ko.” I hand him my answer to our assignment.
“Thanks, you can go now.” Tanging sagot nito.
Kumunot naman ang noo ko. Nagmamadali ba 'to? Well, I myself nag mamadali rin ako, kasi ayoko sa kaniya!
“Ge, ikaw na mag papasa? Ako na hintayin ko nalang—” As usual, he always cut my words.
“It's bad for girls to wait. Ladies shouldn't wait. Ako na ang bahala nito.” Ay may manners pala. I secretly laughed and walk away without saying any words not even "bye". Kasi, sino nga ba siya? He's not a friend of mine.
While walking towards the gate para makauwi na someone stopped me.
“Hey girl! Wait!” One of the law students in this university approached me. She's wearing the same ID as mine eh.
“Yes? What's the problem? May kasalanan ba ako? Do you want us to argue? Kasi I'm read—” I am not done yet but she cut my words. Seryoso, kambal ba 'to ng jerk na 'yon?
“Diba, partner kayo ni Thad? Pa sabi naman sa kaniya I will wait sa gate para sabay kaming umuw—” As I've said, hindi ako nag papatalo kaya I cut her words too.
“First of all, we are partners not friends. I don't communicate with him unless it's about school. We are rivals, dear. So, why would I tell him? Go tell him yourself.” Natigilan siya sa sinabi ko, I thought she'd be mad kasi I did not answered her nicely but she smirked.
“Confirmed. Nanalo ako sa beat! Thanks Girl! Dapat matalo mo talaga siya.” Ngiting-ngiting sagot nito at tinawag ang isa nilang friend.
“I told you, they are rivals and nothing more! I won the beat! Hahahahaha I can't believe it! The great Thaddeus Kade Lopez has a competitor now.” Sobrang saya nito at humarap muli saakin. “Girl! You should beat him more, we'd like to see him pissed so that we could teased him.” Ngumiti at nag peace sign naman ang lalaking kasama ni ate girl sa pinagsasabi ng babae.
Kahit nagugulohan tumango nalang ako and I excused myself. They had a beat na magkakaroon ng rival si Kade? That means, hindi rin siya natalo talo o nalamangan ever since before? Oh, then we are equal. But with me, I'll make sure ako ang nasa itaas.
