Chapter 32

Hushed murmurs greeted Astrid and the Azgeda army as they joined the rest of the Coalition's army. Hundreds of warriors surrounded the perimeter of Arkadia, just a mile away from the camp.

"Winwolfa." One of the Trikru warriors approached her as she dismounted her horse. Holding each other's forearms, they greeted each other briefly before he relayed information.

"Tell me what you know." She commanded as they weaved between the trees. Freki and Geri were at her side, with three other Azgeda warriors behind them.

"Heda has issued a kill order for any Skaikru who attempted to cross the blockade. Three teams were dispatched this morning. Only one of them was stupid enough to try to fight through us." He explained as we neared a group of men. They were already stripping the deceased bodies of the Ark's guard uniforms.

"Pack up their clothes. Let the wolves feed on them." She jutted her chin to the bodies, and Geri and Freki instantly began devouring them. Astrid crinkled her nose at the sight. Amongst them was a guard she had known on the Ark. Too bad their arrogance led them to such a terrible fate. After Astrid gathered the reminisce of the clothes, she mounted her horse and departed to the gates with two other Trikru warriors at her side.

"Astrid. What the hell are you doing with the Grounders?" Bellamy asked as he approached the gates. She met him halfway, her wolves defending side. People began murmuring inside the gates, drawing closer to the interaction.

"She is the Winwolfa, Queen of Azgeda, the murderer of the late Queen Nia and you may address her as such." The Trikru warrior spoke for Astrid. The information sent a ripple of shock in the crowd. Astrid sat strong upon her horse, not fearing the harsh words she was certain people were exchanging.

Astrid merely held up a hand to the warrior. "There is no need to speak for me."

"What the hell happened?" Bellamy shook his head in disbelief. "You're Azgeda now? I thought you were done with them. You need to stop taking that stupid prophecy so seriously. You're not some Queen, you're part of the Ark."

"I am not just a member of Azgeda. I rule Azgeda." Geri and Freki sneered at the men in front of them. "You see, I know what it means to sacrifice for the greater good. I married the King of the Ice Nation and killed his mother to not only protect Skaikru, but to unite the Coalition entirely. Azgeda no longer poses a threat as long as I, Winwolfa, the Queen of the Azgeda Nation, says so. Lexa has been merciful to Skaikru. She only seeks Pike to pay for the blood spilled. If it were up to me, only the worthy would remain. This is me repaying the debt I owe you. Back down, Blake."

"Merciful?" Pike questioned as he walked up towards Astrid. "The Grounders have murdered over 100 of our people." He shouted loudly at the Queen, but little did he know she had dealt with much, much worse than some arrogant power hungry Skaikru man.

"And Skaikru murdered 600 people from Trikru. People who have inhabited this Earth longer than Skaikru has. Along with hundreds from Mount Weather. Bellamy, you helped Wanheda pull the lever to kill those people. Trust me when I say I know everything." Turns out, the information she gathered as Sheidstaka proved worthy. The crowd around them grew rowdy, instantly realizing they misjudged him. Guilt and remorse plastered on his face as she said, "I feel no pity for your people who have died due to Skaikru's arrogance."

"You are Skaikru, Astrid. You came down with us on the dropship. Don't forget that." Bellamy snapped at her. It was an awful attempt to intimidate the Ice Queen.

"Bellamy Blake. If that is your attempt to win me to your side, you must be more stupid than I thought. The Ark did nothing but imprison me. Imprison your sister." Astrid scanned the group of people who gathered around them, listening to her speech. "They lied to everybody about sending the 100 down, and the oxygen deprivation that led to hundreds more being slaughtered. So please, tell me. Why should I feel obligated to join Skaikru after they've done nothing but torment me for 18 years."
